Wewoka Tigers Protect Their Home Court Friday Night
The Wewoka Tigers hosted the Silo Rebels for their second home game of the season Friday night.
The Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Rebels while the Tiger boys beat the Silo boys.
The Lady Tigers had a slow start to the game Friday. The Lady Rebels showcased their talent with four three-points made in the first quarter.
Wewoka fought back in the second as Heavenli Hill and Sa’aliyah Bowlegs knocked down a couple of three points of their own. The Lady Rebels continued to shoot from threepoint range and added to their lead.
The Lady Tigers were down by 24 points at the half.
The defense of the Lady Tigers stepped their game up in the second half while the offense continued to battle. Wewoka went on a 13-12 run in the third.
The Lady Tigers struggled in the final frame and could not close the gap. The Lady Rebels sealed the win with 13 points scored in the quarter.
The final score of the game was Silo Lady Rebels 68, Wewoka Lady Tigers 39. The Lady Rebels knocked down 13 three-points shots in the game.
Scoring for the Lady Tigers was Kallie Abel with 11 points and one three-point shot. Leilani Scott had 8 points and Heavenli Hill had 7 points and one trey.
The Wewoka Tiger boys took to the court next.
The Tiger boys were fired up and came to play. Ladarius Woods knocked down two treys and Bill Stephens drained one and held the Rebels to 7 points.
Wewoka had a 10-point lead heading into the second quarter. The Rebels fired back in the second and scored 18 points to close the gap some.
The duo of Woods and Stephens continued in the quarter and helped extend the lead before the half.
Wewoka continued with their game plan in the second half and lit up the scoreboard from inside the paint and held the Rebels to 10 points in the quarter.
The Rebels battled until the end of regulation but could not catch the Tigers. Wewoka never let up in the final quarter and cruised in for the win with a final score of 61-46.
Scoring for Wewoka was Bill Stephens with 25 points, 7 steals, 2 assists and 4 rebounds.
Ladarius Woods had 22 points, 2 steals, 2 assists and 7 rebounds.
Next up for Wewoka is a home game against Quinton on the 10th. The Lady Tigers will start at 6 pm with the Tigers boys following directly after.
