Posted in:

The Wewoka Tigers hosted the Anadarko Warriors Tuesday afternoon after the Konawa Basketball Invitational was canceled due to the weather.

Anadarko came away wins in both games, but they had to fight for them.

The Wewoka Lady Tigers started the afternoon off and kept the game close with Leilani Scott scoring 6 points from the paint. The Lady Warriors knocked down four three-point shots in the frame to go up 21-14 in the first.

Wewoka struggled in the second and fell behind as Anadarko widened the gap with 22 points scored.

The Lady Warriors were in command heading into the third quarter. Wewoka continued to struggle but never let up. Jhaivyn Patton scored 5 points, three from the foul line in the frame.

The Lady Warriors eased up in the final quarter as the lead was too much for the Lady Tigers to catch.

The Anadarko Lady Warriors won the game with a final score of 70-29.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers was Leilani Scott with 9 points and was one of two from the free throw line.

Jhaivyn Patton had 8 points and was 4 of 6 from the line.

Heavenli Hill, Sa’aliyah Bowlegs and Kallie Abel each scored four points.

Next up was the Wewoka boys.

Wewoka put up a good fight in the first with Bill Stephens finding his three-point range to help the Tigers stay competitive. The Warriors also knocked down a three-pointer as well as 13 points to take the lead.

The Tigers had a hard time trying to make their baskets count in the second but their defense frustrated the offense of Anadarko with takeaways and kept it a low scoring quarter.

The Tigers were facing a 13-point deficit heading into the third quarter.

Wewoka’s Coach Roberts got his team fired up at the break and the Tigers put on an aerial display in the quarter with five threepoint shots made by Ladarius Woods and Matthyus Bruner.

The Warriors continued to battle as the Tigers began to close the gap.

Wewoka continued with their momentum in the final frame and the duo of Woods and Bruner continued to shoot from beyond the arch.

The defense of the Tigers held the Warriors to ten points in the quarter, but time had run out for Wewoka’s late rally for the win.

The Anadarko Warriors won the battle 57-34.

Leading for Wewoka was Matthyus Bruner with 20 points, five treys and was three of three from the free throw line.

Ladarius Woods had 16 points, three treys and was one of four from the line.

Bill Stephens had 5 points with one being a three-point shot.

Next up for the Wewoka Tigers is Friday the 17th. This is a home game against Community Christian. The game will start at approximately 6 p.m.
