Strother Yellowjackets Fall to Alex Thursday Night
The Strother Yellowjackets hosted the Alex Longhorns Thursday night. Thursday night was a “Pink-Out” game for the Yellowjackets. The Yellowjackets fell 22-58 in their third game at home. The Longhorns received the ball to start and moved the ball down field and scored a touchdown at the 9:57 mark. The two-point conversion was good.
On the first possession for Strother, the quarterback Mylam DeFries threw an interception, turning the ball back over to Alex. The Longhorns scored on the turnover to go up 16-0.
The Yellowjackets struggled on offense in the first and threw another interception and their next offensive drive. Alex capitalized on the turnover and added to their lead.
The Yellowjackets settled down and moved the ball down the field. QB DeFries punched the ball in on a short run to put six points on the board.
The Longhorns continued with their offensive attack and scored right before the end of the 1st quarter.
Alex had the lead 30-6 heading into the second.
The second quarter was a defensive battle on both sides of the ball. The Longhorns managed another score in the quarter to extend their lead.
At the break, Alex led 38-6. The Longhorns scored again midway through the third. The Yellowjackets never gave up and fought back with a 40-yard touchdown run by DeFries. The two-point conversion was good.
At the 2:58 mark of the third, Strother put up another score by Payden Madden. The Two-point conversion was good.
Before the third quarter ended, Alex added another score to stretch their lead 52-22.
Time was not on Strother’s side in the final quarter. The Longhorns put the game away with another touchdown at the top of the fourth quarter. Strother had no answer. The Alex Longhorns won 58-22.
Next up for Strother is a home game on the 25th of October against Weleetka. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
