Strother Protect Home Court Friday on Senior Night
The Strother Yellowjackets hosted the Paden Pirates for their senior night Friday night.
Strother honored Kayden Schultz, Payden Madden and Jeremiah Lena of the Yellowjacket boys team and Danica Morales of the Lady Yellowjackets in between the girls and boys game.
The Lady Yellowjackets started the evening off facing the Lady Pirates and had a slow start to the game. Danica Morales of the Lady Yellowjackets scored six points in the quarter to help keep the game close.
The Strother defense stepped up their game in the second and held the Lady Pirates to 8 points scored and closed the gap to two points.
Strother took the lead in the third with Morales scoring six more points and Brooklyn Turner knocking down a threepoint shot to fire up the home crowd.
The score was 32-29 Strother heading into the final quarter.
The Lady Yellowjackets dominated the fourth 17 points while holding Paden to just six points in the final frame.
The Strother Lady Yellowjackets came away with a big win with a final score of 49-35.
Scoring for Strother was Danica Morales with 22 points and was two for two from the foul line.
Olivia Speers had 12 points and was two for two from the line.
Ludie Barrett-Higgins had 6 points and was two for two from the line.
The Paden Pirate boys jumped out to an early lead after both teams showed great defense in the first quarter.
Strother closed the gap by two points at the half.
The Yellowjackets took control of the game in the second half. Strother’s defense showed up in the third and held the Pirates five points scored while putting up 18 points offensively.
Strother continued with their offense momentum in the fourth quarter and raised their lead to 62 while the Pirates never gave up and hung in the game but could not catch the Yellowjackets before the end of regulation.
Strother Yellowjackets won the fight with a final score of 65-42.
Scoring for Strother was Peyton Moody with 20 points, Michael Kanard with 15 points and Jeremiah Lena with 12 points.
Next up for Strother is districts at Dover on the 14th through the 15th.
The Strother Lady Yellowjackets face Oilton Friday at 6 p.m. and the Yellowjacket boys play Friday against Oilton at 7:30 p.m.
