Strother Lady Yellowjackets Win at Home Monday

The Strother Lady Yellowjackets hosted the Varnum Lady Whippets Monday evening in some slow-pitch action on senior night. Strother won the match 6-3.

Strother honored the seniors Brooklyn Price and Madison Yeubanks before the game.

The Lady Whippets took to the plate first and went three and out. The Lady Yellowjackets took the lead when Brooklyn Turner scored on a fly ball.

The Lady Yellowjackets tied the game up when Shysie Harjo scored on a ground ball at the top of the second.

Strother went to work in the second when Emily Echelle scored on a ground, Paige Atkinson scored on an error, Taos Tinsley and Stevie Houge scored the same error.

Neither team would score in the third inning.

The Lady Whippets closed the gap with two runs by Karsyn Lowery on a line drive and Harjo on a fly ball.

Varnum was down by two runs and the Lady Yellowjackets added to their lead when Tinsley scored on a ground ball.

The teams could not score in the fifth and sixth innings of the game as both defenses stepped up their game.

The Lady Whippets had one more chance to catch the Lady Yellowjackets but went scoreless again at the top of the seventh.

The Strother Lady Yellowjackets won the game 6-3 in a hard-fought battle between two Seminole County schools.

Pitching for Varnum was Karsyn Lowery who pitched six innings, allowing six runs and striking out zero.

Pitching for Strother was Adrienne Hagy who pitched seven innings, allowing three runs, striking out two and walking none.

Next up for Strother is an away game at Drumright on the 21st.

Next game for Varnum is an away game at Weleetka on the 22nd.
