Strother Lady Yellowjackets Dominate Mason at Home Monday
The Strother Lady Yellowjackets hosted the Mason Lady Eagles Monday afternoon and dominated the game with a 13-1 score.
The Lady Eagles started off the game at bat but went three-and-out.
The Lady Yellowjackets went to work in the bottom of the first when Gracey Rich and Geneva Reynolds scored on a ground ball, Ludie Barrett-Higgins scored on a line drive and Emily Echelle scored on a ground ball as well.
The Lady Yellowjackets had a 5-0 lead heading into the second inning.
The defense of the Lady Yellowjackets held the Lady Eagles scoreless in the inning. Strother went right back to work on offense in the second inning when Brooklyn Turner scored on a line drive, Reynolds scored on a ground ball, Price and Barrett-Higgins scored on a fly ball and Echelle scored on a ground.
The Lady Eagles got on the board with a single run in the third to avoid a shutout.
The score was 10-1 Strother heading into the bottom of the third. The Lady Yellowjackets sealed the win with Turner scoring on a fly ball and Rich and Reynolds scoring on a line drive by Price to win 13-1.
Pitching for Strother was Adrienne Hagy who pitched three innings, allowing one run, striking out none and walking two.
Next up for the Lady Yellowjackets is the LRC Tournament in Shawnee on the 31st through the 1st of April.
The Lady Yellowjackets starts off in the tournament against the Bowlegs Lady Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
