SSC Softball Team is on a 15 Game Winning Streak
The Seminole State softball team are 21-3 on the season so far and continue to add to their winning percentage.
Seminole State faced Cowley County Community College Lady Tigers Saturday in a double header.
The Lady Tigers took the lead at the top of the first inning with two runs scored. The SSC Lady Trojans went three and out at the bottom of the inning.
The second inning was scoreless on both sides as the defenses stepped up.
Seminole State held the Lady Tigers scoreless at the top of the third inning and closed the gap with a single run to make it 2-1 Cowley.
The Lady Tigers added to their lead with another run at the top of the fourth, but the Lady Trojans fired back with three runs of their own and took the lead at the bottom of the inning.
No runs were scored in the fifth inning, and the defense of Seminole State held the Lady Tigers scoreless again at the top of the sixth inning. At the bottom of the inning, SSC scored another run to make it 5-3 Seminole State.
In the seventh and final inning, the Lady Tigers rallied back with two runs scored to tie the game, but the Lady Trojans knocked in a run at the bottom of the inning and won the game 6-5.
Seminole State’s Jentrie Gibson had two runs and one RBI, Kenna Maker had two runs and three RBIs and Kaylee Sallee and Madi Doty each scored a run.
Pitching for Seminole State was Brittani Murray who pitched four innings with one run and three strikeouts.
Maliyah Carney pitched one inning with four runs and no strikeouts.
In the next game against Cowley, Seminole State was ready.
Cowley went to bat first again in the second game but went three and out. The SSC Lady Trojans took advantage and scored 3 runs in the first to take the lead.
The Lady Tigers struggled at bat and again went three and out. Seminole State added another run to their score to extend their lead.
The Lady Tigers had no answer for Seminole State in the second game as the Lady Trojans scored three more runs at the bottom of the fourth to make 7-0 SSC.
Cowley again went scoreless at the top of the fifth while Seminole State added another run in the inning.
The game was called with Seminole State winning 8-0 to extend their winning streak to 13.
Seminole State beat Neosho County Community College Sunday in a double header 12-1 and 3-0 to extend their streak to 15.
SSC’s Kaitlyn Simpson had three runs, Ava Yocham had two runs with three RBIs, Camryn Westbrook had two runs, and Kenna Maker had one run and two RBIs.
Pitching for SSC was Graci Major who pitched five innings, allowing zero runs and striking out three.
Next up for Seminole State is a home game against Northeastern Oklahoma AM College on Thursday. This game will also be a double header with the first game starting at 2p.m. and the second game starting at approximately 4 p.m.
