SSC Soccer Season Comes to an End at Nationals
The Seminole State soccer team has had an astounding 2024 season this year going undefeated in the regular season.
Not only did the Lady Trojans go undefeated but no team scored upon Seminole State until October 19th against Iowa Western Community College where the game ended up in a tie (2 to 2).
The 2nd Nationally ranked Seminole State Lady Trojans traveled to Wichita, Kansas for the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship after winning the South District Championship. The Lady Trojans competed on the 17th and 19th of November but did not advance to the finals.
The Lady Trojans faced the Daytona State Athletics Lady Falcons on the 17th.
The game was a tough battle as both teams struggled to get on the board in the first half. The Lady Falcons scored at the 9:02 mark of the first to take the lead.
The defensive battle continued in the second half. Seminole State drove to the goal several times, but the Lady Falcon goalie Julianna Trujillo blocked four attempts. Not allowing the Lady Trojans a score.
At the 69:07-minute mark, Daytona scored another goal thus winning the match between the teams.
Daytona State won 2-0. It was the first time Seminole State has been shutout this season.
The goalies for the Lady Trojans were Caroline Mobley who had one save in the first half and Ella Copenhaver who had 3 saves in the second half.
On the 19th, the Lady Trojans faced Crowley County Community College Lady Tigers.
Seminole State got back into their rhythm and controlled the first half of the game.
Megan Knapp scored the first goal at the 15:54 minute mark who was assisted by Jillian Powell.
Before the half was up, Knapp stuck again with another goal (unassisted) to put the Lady Trojans up 2-0.
In the second half, both defenses battled throughout the rest of the game. Lady Trojan Ashley Perez sealed the win for Seminole State with a goal at the 68:14-minute mark.
Seminole State posted another shutout on the season. With the shutout, that made a total of 19 shutouts in the 2024 season.
The Seminole State Lady Trojans won 3-0 in a bittersweet victory as the team did not advance to the finals.
The goalies for Seminole State were Caroline Mobley in the first half with 7 saves and Ella Copenhaver in the second half with 2 saves.
Head Coach Dan Hill and coach Caitlyn Bidart have helped the Seminole State Lady Trojans put up an amazing 2024 season. The team made everyone proud. And for the returners, all you can say is “wait ‘til next year!”
