Seminole Win at Home Tuesday Night Over Okmulgee
Seminole hosted the Okmulgee Bulldogs Tuesday night in one of their last three home games of the season.
The Lady Chieftains struggled and started out slow in the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs took a 7-point lead heading into the second.
Seminole settled down and came back in the second with Molli Bustos scoring six points to help the Lady Chieftains tie things up at the break.
The Lady Chieftain defense stepped up in the third and held the Lady Bulldogs to 4 points scored while the offense continued with their pressure with Bustos scoring 9 in the frame.
Seminole had a 10-point lead heading into the final frame. Neither team let off the gas in the fourth and the battle continued. The Lady Bulldogs put up 16 points while the Lady Chieftains made their shots count and cruised in for the win.
The final score of the game was Seminole Lady Chieftains 51, Lady Bulldogs 39.
Leading for the Lady Chieftains was Molli Bustos with 17 points, one trey, and was two for two from the foul line.
Jaelynne Knighton scored 9 points and was two of four from the line.
Jaxie Satawake scored 8 points on the evening.
Next up was the Chieftains boys and the Okmulgee Bulldog boys. The first quarter was a close match up between the two. The Chieftains found their three-point range early and knocked down three from Justice Kortchaver, Reese Smith and Nehemiah Harge. The Bulldogs shot a perfect ten for ten from the foul line to take the early lead in the game.
In the second, the home crowd saw more aerial display of three-point shooting from Dontre Garfield with two, Kortchaver with two and Kolander with one as the Chieftains took the lead at the half.
The game was close in the second half. The Bulldogs hung with the Chieftains in the third and were looking at a 4-point deficit heading into the fourth.
No one let up in the final quarter. The Chieftain defense held up the Bulldogs and kept their offense limited but the Seminole offense struggled some but still came away with the win.
The final score of the battle was Seminole 76, Okmulgee 71.
Leading for Seminole was Justice Kolander with 22 points, three treys and was five of six from the foul line.
Dontre Garfield scored 17 points and three treys.
Nehemiah Harge scored 12 points, one trey and was three of four from the line.
Next up for Seminole is a home game tonight against McLoud. The girls game will start at approximately 6 p.m. and the boys game will follow after.
