Seminole State Win at Home Over Connors State

Seminole State basketball had a three-home game series on the 16th, 18th and 20th of January.

The Seminole Lady Belles won all three of their home games while the Seminole State Trojans won two out of three.

Saturday the 18th, Seminole State took on Connors State for their first matchup of the season.

The Lady Belles started the evening off, and the battle began from the jump. Both teams fought to take the lead in the game as the score went back-and-forth throughout the quarter.

Connors State Cowgirls had a slight edge over SSC heading into the second quarter. Seminole State regrouped and took the lead and never looked back in a 29-24 run in the frame.

The Lady Belles had an 4-point advantage heading into the third quarter. The defense of the Lady Belles stepped up their game plan and held the Cowgirls to score 13 points while adding to their lead on offense.

The Cowgirls made an attempt to close the gap with more offensive pressure, but the Lady Belles continued their game plan and never let up.

The Seminole State Lady Belles won the battle 95-78 over Connors State. The Lady Belles are now 12-5 with a win over Redlands on the 20th.

Leading for SSC Belles was Alona Cooper-Rochovitz with 22 points, four three-point shots, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, one steal and was two of two from the free throw line.

Haddie Lindley had 17 points, five three-point shots, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and one block.

Hiahni Howard had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, one block and was five for five from the line.

Hailey Mack had 12 points, two three-point shots, 4 rebounds and was two of four from the line.

Next up for the Lady Belles is a home game on the 27th against Eastern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m.

The Seminole State Trojans hit the court next for their first game with Connors State.

In the first half, both teams left it all on the court. Neither team could gain the lead as the score went back and fourth. At the end of the first half, the Connors State Cowboys took the slight edge 29-28 into the half.

The war continued after the break. The Trojans had a hard time controlling Edwin Daniel of Connors as he scored 18 points in the game.

The Trojans kept the game close but struggled in the end and fell short before the end of regulation.

The Connors State Cowboys won 67-55 Saturday.

Scoring for Seminole State was Ja’Mon Valentine with 10 points, two treys, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Antonio Reed Jr. had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal and was 4 of 6 from the free throw line.

Camden Brock had 10 points, three 3-point shots, 1 rebound and was one of two from the line.

Next up for Seminole State is Eastern Oklahoma State at home on the 27th at 7:30 p.m.
