Seminole State Trojans Win First Game of Series Thursday

Posted in:

The Seminole State Trojans baseball team hosted the Rose State Raiders Thursday on a cold and wet afternoon. The Trojans almost posted a shutout in the win.

The Raiders went to bat first Thursday afternoon in Seminole. Despite the cold weather, both teams came to play. Neither team scored a run in the first two innings.

The Raiders went three-and-out at the top of the third. The Trojans jumped out to a big lead in the bottom of the inning with Kendall McDowell scoring on a ground ball, Daniel Restrepo and Wilfred Gonzalez scored on a fly ball by Bennett Crafton.

The Raiders battled on offense but could not plate a run through the first six innings. The Trojans lit up the score board again at the bottom of the fifth with one run when Restrepo scored on a passed ball.

The game would go scoreless in the sixth. Rose State managed to get on the board at the top of the seventh with Ryan Lyddiard scoring on a ground ball to avoid the shutout.

Seminole State didn’t score another run in the last inning but didn’t need to as the Trojans won 4-1.

Pitching for the Trojans was Declan Dahl who pitched seven innings, facing 27 players, allowing one run, striking out five and walking one.

Jackson Picklesimer pitched two innings, allowing zero runs, striking out zero and walking four.

Next up for the Trojans is the next two games of the series against Rose State. The games will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. with weather permitting.
