Seminole State Trojans Win Big at Home on Monday

Seminole State Trojans hosted the Dallas College- Brookhaven Bears Monday and came away with a big win on a special day for their coach.

Head baseball coach Mark Chambers was honored before the game with a celebration for his 200th career win. He received a team signed bat and a trophy for his accomplishment.

The Bears stepped up to bat first and went threeand-out. The Trojans were ready to play and got on the board when Tyler Payton scored on a ground ball, Wilfred Gonzalez scored on a passed ball and Logan Hill scored on a walk.

The Bears struggled again in the second and posted zero runs in the inning. The defense held the Trojans in the bottom of the inning.

Dallas College got on board at the top of the third with 2 runs scored to close the gap by one run. The Trojans went back to work at the bottom of the inning with Hill scoring on an error, Cohl McCoy scored on a passed ball and Jaylon Humbles scored on a fly ball.

The Trojans extended their lead by four runs at the top of the fourth. Both teams went three-and-out in the inning.

The Bears continued to struggle through the next three innings and the Trojans took advantage in the fifth inning when McCoy scored on a line drive and Kendall McDowell hit a homerun, knocking in Tagen Simon.

The score was 9-2 Seminole at the top of the seventh inning. The Bears lit up the score board with a homerun that also knocked in a runner. Seminole State answered right back in the bottom of the seventh with Cade Mills scoring on a walk, Luke Fox scored on a passed ball, Carter Sterling and Payton scored on a fly ball.

Seminole State had a nine-point lead heading into the eighth inning. The Bears scored a single run in the eighth and one in the nineth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

The Seminole State Trojans won 13-6 at home.

Pitching for the Trojans was Clayton Moore who pitched six innings allowing two runs, striking out one and walking one.

Luke Saunders pitched one inning, allowing two runs, striking out one and walking one.

Hunter Gibson pitched one inning, allowing one run, striking out one and walking none.

Mylan Childers pitched one inning, allowing one run, striking out one and walking two.

Next up for Seminole State is an away game at Eastern Oklahoma State on the 10th and 12th.

The next home game is on the 14th against Grayson. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
