Seminole State Split Back-to-Back with Eastern OK Sunday

The Seminole State Trojans completed their 3-game series with Eastern Oklahoma State College Sunday afternoon with a double-header. The SSC boys won the first game that was played Thursday afternoon with a score of 6-1 and on Sunday, the Trojans fell in the first and came right back with a win in the second game.

The Eastern Mountaineers got on the board first with a single run and held the Trojans scoreless in the first inning.

The Mountaineers added to their lead with three more runs in the second. The Trojans struggled again and went threeand-out at the bottom of the inning.

SSC slowed the Mountaineers in the third by keeping them scoreless and Trojan Brayden Harpole scored on a sacrifice fly by Kendall McDowell to put the Trojans on the board.

The Mountaineers fired back with two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth.

The Trojans continued to battle and added a run in the sixth when Tyler Payton scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Dearman.

No one would score in the seventh as the Eastern Mountaineers won 7 to 2 in seven innings.

Pitching for SSC was Matt Hudspeth who pitched 4 innings, allowing 6 runs and striking out 5.

Cash Coble pitched three innings, allowing one run and striking out six.

The Trojans settled down and battled to the end in the second game of the day.

The Mountaineers went to bat first and went threeand-out to start the second game. The Trojans fought but were scoreless also in the inning.

The Trojan defense held the Mountaineers scoreless at the top of the second. The offense of Seminole State went to work when Hutch Russell scored on an advance, Wilfred Gonzales, Luke Fox and Tagen Simon scored on a fly ball and error to take a 4-0 lead.

No runs were scored in the third inning.

At the top of the fourth, the Mountaineers tied the game up with four runs scored. The Trojans Cohl McCoy put Seminole State back in the lead with a run scored in the inning.

The defenses from both teams held each other scoreless in the 5th and 6th innings.

The Mountaineers went three-and-out at the top of the seventh inning while the Trojans added to their lead with Payton scoring on a line drive to give SSC a 2-point lead.

Both teams went threeand- out in the eighth inning. The Eastern Mountaineers had one more inning to close the gap and could only score one run in the frame.

The Seminole State won the match 6 to 5 to go 2 and 1 in the series.

Pitching for Seminole State was Denver Hamilton who pitched 5 innings, allowing four runs and striking out four.

Jackson Pickelsimer pitched 2 innings, allowing zero runs and one strike out.

Mylan Childers pitched one inning allowing zero runs and striking out three.

Luke Saunders pitched one inning allowing one run and striking out two.

Next up for the Trojans is a home game against Northeastern Oklahoma AM College on the 14th and 15th.

Friday the 14th, the game is set to start at 3 p.m. and on Saturday the 15th, the Trojans have a double-header. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and the second game at 3 p.m.
