Seminole State Softball Wins Double Header Thursday

The Seminole State Lady Trojans hosted Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa Thursday afternoon in a double header softball game.

NOC took to home plate first and went three-andout. The Lady Trojans also suffered a scoreless inning in the first.

NOC struggled in the first three innings at bat. Seminole State got on board at the beginning of the second inning with McKenzie Cothran hitting a home run.

Neither team scored in the third inning.

NOC lit up the score board at the top of the fourth with four runs scored to take the lead. The Lady Trojans answered right back at the bottom of the inning when Cothran and Kenna Maker scored on a line drive, Kinley Green scored on a throw and Kaylee Madden scored on a bunt to take the lead by one.

The Lady Trojans sealed the win with Jentrie Gibson scoring on a fly ball to help SSC win 7-4.

Pitching for SSC was Graci Major who pitched 3.2 innings, allowing 4 runs, striking out two and walking one.

Mckenna Ingram pitched 3.1 innings, allowing zero runs, zero walks and striking out four.

In the second game of the afternoon, NOC went to bat first again and the struggles on offense continued through the first three innings. Seminole State jumped on board in the first with McKayla Greenshaw scoring on a ground ball.

Neither team scored in the second or third innings. NOC lit up the score board with a single run in the fourth to tie things up but the defenses of both teams battled through three more innings, not allowing a run.

NOC went three and out at the top of the final inning (8) and the Lady Trojans won the game with a single run by Madden who scored on a ground ball.

The Seminole State Lady Trojans won the second game 2-1.

Pitching in the second game for SSC was Mackenzie Kauk who pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run, striking out four and walking one.

Mckenna Ingram pitched 2.2 innings, allowing zero runs, zero walks and striking out four.

Next up for the Lady Trojans is a double header at Northern Oklahoma College – Enid on Saturday.

The next home game is on the 15th against Eastern Oklahoma State in a double header. The first game starts at 2 p.m. and the second game starts at 4 p.m.
