Seminole State Hosts Murray State Thursday Night
Seminole State basketball hosted the Murray State Aggies Thursday night in a win, loss night.
The Seminole State Lady Belles hit the court first to start the evening.
The Lady Aggies committed multiple fouls in the first as the Lady Belles shot four of six from the foul line in the quarter. Murray State knocked down two threepoint shots to go up 14-10 in the frame.
Haddie Lindley and Kylie Hewitt of the Lady Belles found their three-point range in the second, but the Lady Aggies stepped up their offense and scored 30 points to take a commanding lead before the half.
Head Coach Rita Story- Schell fired up her girls at the break and the Lady Belles dominated the third quarter and closed the gap with Alona Cooper scoring 11 points with one trey, Hiahni Howard scored 7 points and Nazhoni Sleeper drained a three-point shot to help Seminole State go on a 29-17 run and closed to gap to within four points.
The battle was on in the final frame. Lady Belle Lindley hit another threepoint shot as the Lady Belles shot six of six from the foul line in the quarter. The Lady Aggies pulled away in the final seconds to win the battle with a final score of 79-72.
Scoring for the Lady Belles was Hiahni Howard with 17 points and was three of four from the foul line.
Alona Cooper had 15 points, one trey and was four of four from the line.
Nazhoni Sleeper and Haddie Lindley each scored 11 points in the game.
The Seminole State Trojans were ready to face the Murray State Aggies next.
The Aggies jumped out with the lead in the first half as the Trojans started out slow but kept the game within reach.
Murray State had a sixpoint lead at the half with a score of 29-23.
The Trojans settled down at the break and came back in the second half with more offensive pressure. The game was close but Seminole
State made more of their shots count and came from behind for the win with a final score of 71-60.
Murray State as a team had 38 rebounds, 22 assists, 4 blocks and 4 steals.
Leading for the Trojans was Ja’Mon Valentine with 21 points, five three-point shots, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and was 4 of 7 from the foul line.
Antonio Reed Jr. with 17 points, one trey, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and was 2 for 2 from the line.
Camden Brock had 10 points, two treys, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.
Next up for Seminole State is an away game at Connors State on the 10th.
The home game for SSC is Northern Oklahoma College- Tonkawa on the 13th. The Lady Belles will start at 5:30 p.m. with the Trojans following after.
