Seminole State Baseball Falls to Redlands Tuesday
The Seminole State Trojans were back home Tuesday to take on Redlands Community College in some baseball action.
The visiting Redlands Cougars went to bat first and scored a single run at the top of the inning. The Trojans struggled and went three-and-out.
The defense of the Trojans stepped up and held the Cougars scoreless in the second. The Trojans lit up the scoreboard in the bottom of the second when Bennett Crafton homered on a line drive. After two outs, Harrison Christiana scored on a line drive and Kendall McDowell scored on a fly ball to take the lead.
The Cougars fired back in the top of the third with five runs scored. The Trojans could answer back in the bottom of the inning and went 3 and out.
The Cougars could not add to their lead and went scoreless in the fourth. The Trojans took advantage and tied things up when Christiana and McDowell scored on a fly ball and Tyler Payton scored on a sacrifice by Wilfred Gonzalez.
Redlands managed a single run in the fifth and in the sixth to take back the lead.
The Trojans re-took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when McDowell scored on a steal of home, Payton and Grayson Childers scored on a line drive.
The Trojans had a onepoint lead heading into the seventh inning. Neither team scored in the seventh and the Cougars fired back in the eighth with four runs scored. The went scoreless in the 8th and 9th innings and lost a close one with a final score of 9-12.
Pitching for Seminole State was Hunter Gibson who pitched three innings, allowing 6 runs and striking out zero.
Cole Girard pitched three innings, allowing two runs and striking out two.
Mylan Childers pitched one inning, allowing four runs and striking out two.
Luke Saunders pitched one inning, striking out one.
Next up for the Trojans is Friday at home against Northeastern Oklahoma AM College at 3 p.m. in a three-game series. The second and third games will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
