Seminole Lose First Round of Districts Saturday

Seminole traveled to Shawnee Saturday night for their first round of Districts and fell to a tough North Rock Creek team.

The Lady Chieftains started the evening off for Seminole. Seminole struggled on offense in the first with only three points scored. North Rock Creek Lady Cougars took advantage and scored 20 points to take the early lead.

Lady Chieftain Aundrea Tagg found her three-point range in the second to help Seminole stay in the game, but the Lady Cougars kept their momentum going and added to their lead.

At the half, the Lady Chieftains were down by 22 points.

Again, Tagg attacked the rim with two more treys to try and help the Lady Chieftains clos ethe gap, but the Lady Cougars also found their range and knocked down three treys of their own.

The NRC Lady Cougars had a commanding lead heading into the final quarter. The Lady Chieftains put on an aerial display of threepoint shooting in the final frame with Tiona Bruner knocking down two and Tagg hitting another one. The good shooting didn’t save the Lady Chieftains as the North Rock Creek Lady Cougars won 68-33.

Leading for Seminole was Aundrea Tagg with 14 points and four three-point shots.

Tiona Bruner had 8 points and two treys.

The Lady Chieftains move on to play on the 27th against the winner of McLain and Holland Hall at North Rock Creek. No team has been verified at press time.

The Seminole Chieftain boys were next to face the North Rock Creek Cougar boys.

Seminole kept in close in the first quarter with Justice Kortchaver and Nehemiah Harge each knocking down a three-point shot in the frame.

The Chieftains were down by 3 points heading into the second quarter. Korthchaver, Donavan and Dontre Garfield each found their three-point range in the second to take the lead with a halftime score of 33 to 31.

The Cougars regrouped at the half and dominated the third quarter and went on a 36-16 run in the frame.

The Chieftains were looking at a 18 point deficit heading into the final quarter. Seminole continued to battle with Donavan Garfield and Harge knocking down a trey, but the lead of the Cougars was too much to close in on. The Seminole Chieftains fell 67-89.

Leading for the Chieftains was Justice Kortchaver with 25 points, 3 three-point shots and was two for two from the foul line.

Donavan Garfield scored 14 points and two treys.

Nehemiah Harge scored 12 points with two treys.

The Seminole Chieftain boys are still in the playoffs and will face the winner between McLain and Holland Hall at North Rock Creek on the 27th.

No winner has been verified at press time.
