Seminole Falls to Tecumseh Tuesday Night at Home

The Seminole Chieftains and Lady Chieftains played their first home of the new year Tuesday night against the Tecumseh Savages.

It was the second home game for Seminole this season.

The Lady Chieftains started the evening off and struggled on offense throughout the first half. Seminole Lady Chieftain Molli Bustos knocked down a three-point shot in the first to put the girls on the board.

The Tecumseh girls went on a 23-3 run in the quarter.

In the second frame, Aundrea Tagg of Seminole nailed to three-point shots while Ryley Stanfill scored from inside the paint to close the gap for the Lady Chieftains.

The Seminole girls were down by 25 at the half and were looking for answers at the break.

The defense of the Lady Chieftains held the Lady Savages to 14 points in the third while Tagg continued to shoot from beyond the arch for another trey and helped the Lady Chieftains with 5 points in the frame.

The defense continued to slow down Tecumseh in the final quarter and tried to close the gap before the end of regulation. Lady Chieftain Tagg added one more trey to Seminole’s score, but the Tecumseh lead was out of reach.

The Tecumseh Lady Savag es won with a final score of 61-25.

Scoring for Seminole was Aundrea Tagg with 17 points, 4 three-point shots and was 5 of 8 from the free throw line.

Molli Bustos had 3 points, Ryley Stanfill and Jaxie Satawake

each had two pints.

The Chieftain boys hit the court next. Tecumseh jumped out to an early lead with a 19-8 run in the first quarter. Seminole Chieftain Jay Ladd knocked down a trey to fire up the home crowd.

The Chieftains fired back in the second with 18 points scored with Tyce Bruner and Justice Kortchaver finding their spot from the threepoint range.

The Chieftains were down by 19 points at the half with a score of 18-45.

Seminole were red-hot in the third quarter and went on a 21-13 run in the frame. Nehemiah Harge joined in on the three-point shots and drained two for the Chieftains as well as Dontre Garfield finding his spot for one to help close the gap.

The Chieftains continued with their momentum into the fourth quarter, but the Savages fought back to make it a close game in the final seconds. Garfield and Harge continued with their three-point shooting, but time was not on Seminole’s side.

Tecumseh won the battle with a final score of 75-67.

Scoring for Seminole was Dontre Garfield with 17 points, two treys and was 5 of 8 from the line.

Nehemiah Harge had 15 points and 3 treys.

Justice Kortchaver had 11 points, one trey and was 2 of 4 from the line.

Next up for Seminole is the Konawa Basketball Invitational scheduled for the 9th and 10th. The schedule has been revised due to anticipated weather. The original schedule had teams playing Thursday through Saturday.

The Chieftains will play at 12:20 Friday and the Lady Chieftains will play at 1:40 p.m. Friday.
