Seminole Chieftains Win at Home on Senior Night
The Seminole Chieftain baseball team hosted the Prague Red Devils Friday evening for their senior night.
The Chieftains honored Leo Zapata, Lupe Vesquez, Luis Vega, Dontre Garfield, Reece Smith, Landon Bowling and Braeden Kolander before the game.
The Red Devils went to bat first to start the game. Prague went three-and-out in the first. The Chieftains took the early lead in the bottom of the inning when Landon Bowling scored on a steal of home, Lupe Vesquez scored on a line drive and Crew Lindley scored on an error.
Prague answered right back at the top of the second with 3 runs scored to tie the game up. The Chieftains took control of the game in the inning when D. Garfield scored on a line drive, Jaxon Williams scored on a walk, Luis Vega scored on a passed ball, Vesquez scored on a walk and Leo Zapata scored on a ground ball.
The Chieftains had a five-run lead heading into the third and the defense held the Red Devils scoreless in the inning. The Chieftains scored one run by Garfield to add to their lead.
Offensive struggles plagued Prague throughout the rest of the game as they could not score a run.
Seminole scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings by Garfield and Bowling to win the game 11-3.
Pitching for Seminole was Landon Bowling who pitched five innings, allowing three runs, striking out seven and walking three.
