Seminole Chieftains Protect Home Court Tuesday Night
The Seminole Chieftains hosted the Prague Red Devils Tuesday night for their first home game for the month of February.
The Lady Chieftains had a slow first half. Aundrea Tagg of the Lady Chieftains knocked down a three-point shot in the second to help Seminole stay in the game.
The Prague Lady Red Devils dominated the second quarter with 17 points scored to go up 25-7 at the break.
Seminole fired back in the third and closed the gap some with Tagg finding her three-point range again and scored 10 points in the frame.
The defense held the Lady Red Devils to 14 points scored in the third.
The Lady Chieftains were looking at a 14-point deficit heading into the final quarter. Seminole continued to battle with Tagg draining another three in the frame, but the offense of Prague stepped on the gas and dominated the final quarter to seal their win with a final score of 58-33.
Leading for Seminole was Aundrea Tagg with 16 points with 4 three-point shots.
Jaxie Satawake had 7 points and was three of six from the free throw line.
Molli Bustos and Dylilah Hymes each had four points apiece.
Next up was the Chieftains and the Red Devils boys.
The Seminole Chieftains had a strong showing with some aerial display of three-point shooting by Donavan Garfield, Braydon Kolander and Nehemaih Harge in the first but the Pargue Red Devils scored two more points than Seminole from the field.
The Chieftains were down by two heading into the second quarter.
The Chieftains found their rhythm in the second, scoring 20 points with Reese Smith and Tyce Bruner finding their threepoint range in the frame to help Seminole go on a 20-10 run in the quarter.
Seminole had an 8-point lead heading into the third.
Prague fired back after the break. Prague’s C. Cornelius scored 9 points to help the Red Devils go on a 19-14 run to close the gap.
The Red Devils were down by 3 points heading into the final frame. Cornelius of Prague drained two more three-point shots, but the Red Devils ran into foul trouble as Seminole shot 10 of 15 from the foul line and out shot the Red Devils to win the battle 68-60.
Scoring for Seminole was Donavan Garfield with 17 points, one trey and was six of seven from the foul line.
Dontre Garfield had 11 points and was five of six from the foul line.
Nehemiah Harge had 11 points, one trey and was zero of two from the line.
Next up for Seminole is Homecoming tonight against Meeker. Homecoming will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. with the first varsity game following directly after.
The Chieftains last three games of the season will be at home on the 11th, 13th and 17th of February before the District Playoffs.
