Seminole Chieftains Fall at North Rock Creek Saturday

Bill Anderson Sports Editor The Seminole Chieftains traveled to Shawnee last Saturday for their District Championship game against North Rock Creek.

Seminole did not get to bring home the win but live to fight another day.

The Lady Chieftains started the evening off and struggled on offense in the first half. The NOC Lady Cougars took control of the game in the first quarter with Addisen Lawrence knocking down three treys in the frame.

The Lady Chieftains were down by 12 heading into the second quarter. Things didn’t get any better for Seminole as the Lady Cougars continued with their aerial shooting from three-point range in the second.

Seminole was looking at a 30-point deficit coming out of the half.

The Lady Chieftains found some momentum in the second half. Seminole shot 6 of 8 from the free throw line in the third while the defense held NOC to 8 points scored.

Seminole shot better from the field in the final quarter but the lead of the Lady Cougars was too much to catch.

North Rock Creek Lady Cougars won the District Championship 54-27.

Leading the way for the Lady Chieftains was Ryeley Stanfield with 9 points and was three of four from the free throw line.

Cadence Ladd and Jaxie Satawake each scored six points on the evening.

Next up was the Chieftains boys the NOC Cougar boys.

The Chieftains had a slow start to the game as the NOC Cougars made five three-point shots to go on a 26-5 run in the first.

Seminole Chieftain Ben Schatzel found his threepoint range in the second and knocked down two treys to help the Chieftains stay in the game.

Seminole was down by 26 points heading into the break.

The Chieftains tried to close the gap in the third with eight points scored from the field and Kenneth Johnson knocking down two treys, but the Cougars stuck to their offensive game plan and extended their lead.

Seminole had a huge hill to climb in the final quarter but could not rally up a comeback.

The North Rock Creek Cougars won the District Championship 75-30.

Leading the way for the Chieftains was Kenneth Johnson with 9 points all from three-point shots (3).

Chris Brager also scored 9 points, one trey and was four of six from the line.

Seminole moves to the Consolation bracket and will play Thursday at North Rock Creek.

The Seminole Lady Chieftains will play Central (Tulsa) Thursday the 26th at 6 p.m.

The Seminole Chieftains will play Mannford Thursday the 26th at 7:30 p.m.
