Seminole Chieftains Battle Okemah at Home Friday Night

The Seminole Chieftains took on the Okemah Panthers in their fourth home game of the season.

The Seminole Lady Chieftains took to the court first to take on the #4 undefeated Okemah Lady Panthers.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead with 19 points scored in the first. The Lady Chieftains couldn’t find their rhythm in the first.

The Lady Chieftains made a strong comeback in the second, shooting four for six from the free throw line and Ava Yarbrough knocking down a three-point shot to help Seminole put up 13 points in the frame.

The Lady Panthers stepped up their offensive game in the second with 26 points scored to take a commanding lead at the half.

The Lady Chieftains struggled on offense in the third, but the defense held Okemah to 12 points in the quarter.

Lady Chieftain Ryeley Stanfill drained a trey in the fourth, but the lead of the Lady Panthers was too much as Okemah won the match 62-24.

Scoring for the Lady Seminoles was Ryeley Stanfill with 8 points, one trey and was three of four from the free throw line.

Jaxie Satawake had 7 points and was three of eight from the line.

Olivia Doucette had 4 points in the game.

Next up was the Chieftains boys and the Okemah Panther boys. The Panthers entered the game ranked number 13 with a 12-7 record on the season.

The Chieftains were ready to play and took the early lead with some three-point shooting from Brayden Kolander, Justice Kortchaver and Tyce Bruner to go 19-14 in the first.

In the second quarter, both teams put on a three-point showing with two threes from the Panthers and Bruner knocking down two more and Nehemiah Harge of Seminole joining in with a trey to help the Chieftains keep the lead at the half.

The Okemah Panthers were down by 8 heading into the third.

The Chieftains struggled in the third quarter on offense as the Panthers closed the gap with more three-point shooting.

The Chieftains had a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Seminole continued to struggle and committed multiple fouls on the Panthers as Okemah shot 11 of 16 from the foul line to overcome the Chieftains for the win. The final score of the battle was Okemah 66 and Seminole 57.

Scoring for Seminole was Tyce Bruner with 16 points, three treys and was one for one from the free throw line.

Nehemiah Harge had 14 points, one trey and was one for one from the line.

Brayden Kolander had 9 points, and one three-point shot. Next up for Seminole is a home game tonight against Prague. The girls will start the evening off at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow at approximately 7 p.m.
