Sasakwa Vikings Win Class B District Championship Tuesday at Home
The Sasakwa Vikings baseball team hosted their Class B District playoffs with the Butner Eagles and Buffalo Valley Buffaloes also competing in the playoffs.
The Vikings handled things in their first game against the Butner Eagles in the first inning with twelve runs scored to help the Vikings win 18-1.
Sasakwa faced the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes next and took control of the game in the second inning.
The Buffaloes were up by 2 runs in the first, but the Vikings scored 3 runs by Micah Wheeler, Darius Henderson and Kaisyn Shaw.
The Vikings extended their lead in the second when Hellman scored on a steal, Wheeler scored on a line drive, Thad Harjo and Ayden Livesay scored on a ground ball, Bryor Bible scored on a error and Tresyn Walker scored on a walk.
The Buffaloes had no answer in the second and the Vikings put the game away at the top of the third with five runs.
Kaisyn Shaw scored on a steal, Harjo scored on a passed ball, T. Collins and Walker scored on an error and Hellman scored on a steal of home.
The Vikings won 14-2. Pitching for Sasakwa was Josh Jones who pitched three innings, allowing two runs, striking out seven and walking one.
Sasakwa faced the Buffaloes one more time for the District Championship. The Vikings weren’t so nice and posted a shutout in the second game.
Sasakwa went to bat first and lit up the scoreboard with nine runs when Wheeler scored on a passed ball, Shaw and Henderson scored on a ground ball, Livesay scored on a passed ball, Hellman scored on a steal, Bible scored on a walk, T. Collins scored on a passed ball, Josh Jones scored on a ground ball and Wheeler scored on a steal.
The Buffaloes wentthree- and-out. Sasakwa added two more runs in the second by Watters and Collins.
The struggles continued for Buffalo Valley as they went three-and-out again.
The Vikings put the game away in the third when Shaw scored on a walk, Hellman scored on a walk, Bible scored on a passed ball, Collins scored on a line drive, Jones scored on a passed ball and Henderson scored on a steal of home.
The Sasakwa Vikings won the game and are the Class B District Champions with a final score of 18-0.
Pitching for Sasakwa was Titan Collins who pitched three innings, allowing zero runs, striking out seven and walking zero.
