Sasakwa Vikings Travel to New Lima Tuesday Night

The Sasakwa Vikings traveled to Falcon country to take on New Lima Tuesday night.

The Lady Falcons and Lady Vikings took to the court first.

New Lima took the early lead with Aubrey Washington knocking down a three-point shot to help the Lady Falcons go on a 7-3 run in the first.

Defenses from both sides stepped up in the second and the offenses battled to put points on the board. Both the Falconettes and Lady Vikings each scored 6 points in the frame.

New Lima still had their lead heading into the third.

Sasakwa had a slow start in the first half and slowing started to fall into rhythm in the second half.

New Lima came from the break on fire and scored 13 points to keep the Falconettes ahead by 8.

Although the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Falcons in the final quarter, New Lima’s Jazzy Harjo and Kristi Griffis each found their spot for a three-point shot to fire up the home crowd.

Time ran out on the late rally by Sasakwa as the New Lima Falconettes won 37-30.

Scoring for New Lima was Layla Cecil with 12 points in the paint.

Jazzy Harjo with 9 points and one trey and Cheyene Deatherage with 6 points.

Scoring for Sasakwa was Makayla Harjo with 11 points and was one of four from the free throw line.

Addy Odom had 6 points, one trey and was one of four from the line.

Chasity Thomas had 6 points and was four of four from the line.

Next up were the Falcon boys and the Viking boys.

The Vikings jumped out to a huge lead with Titus Harper-Collins scoring 8 points from the paint.

The Falcons struggled on offense in the first half but managed three points in the first.

Sasakwa continued with their momentum into the second quarter. Ayden Livesay, Nate Read and Josh Jones found their three-point range to help the Viking go on a 25-2 run in the second.

The New Lima Falcons continued to fight in the second half but were still struggling on offense.

Livesay and Read of Sasakwa continued with their aerial display of three-point shooting and added to the Viking lead.

New Lima Falcon James Julian found his range and drained a three-point shot in the final quarter.

Sasakwa’s Abe Odom and Nathaniel Gentry got in on the action with a couple of treys for themselves as the Sasakwa Vikings cruised in for the win with a final score of 74-15.

Scoring for New Lima was Alex Leaver with four points.

James Julian with three points and Angel Clark, Waylon Neal and Wilman Sneed each scoring two points.

Scoring for Sasakwa was Nate Read with 15 points, two three-point shots and was three of three from the free throw line.

Titus-Harper Collins had 12 points and Josh Jones had 11 points and one three-point shot.

Next up for New Lima is Olive on the 16th. This game is Senior Night. The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m.

Next up for Sasakwa is Maud on the 21st. This is a home game. The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
