Sasakwa Vikings Hosts Hominy Bucks Saturday Afternoon

The Sasakwa Vikings put in some overtime and hosted the Hominy Bucks this past Saturday and had a rubber band day in their games.

The Lady Vikings started the day off early in the afternoon battling the Lady Bucks.

Hominy proved to be too much for the Lady Vikings and Sasakwa fell 29-58.

The Lady Vikings are now 7-6 on the season, heading into the Wapanuka basketball tournament.

The Viking boys were next to take to the court. Sasakwa is ranked #10 in Class B1and were ready to play.

The Viking boys went on a 24-16 run in the first quarter with Josh Jones scoring ten points and Boston Lowe adding five to help Sasakwa take the lead.

The Hominy Bucks closed the gap in the second by holding the Vikings to 16 points scored and scoring 12 of their own.

The Vikings took a twelve-point lead into the half.

The battle continued into the third quarter after the break but the Vikings found their three-point range in the frame and connected on three shots from jones and Lowe to edge out the Bucks.

Sasakwa had a 15-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Vikings regrouped and applied more offensive pressure in the final frame along with more three-point shooting from Jones to add another victory for the Vikings with a final score of 80-60.

Leading for the Vikings was Josh Jones with 32 points, six treys and was four of four from the free throw line.

Boston Lowe had 20 points, three treys and was three of four from the line.

Titus Harper-Collins had 11 points and was one of three from the line.

The Sasakwa Vikings head into the Wapanucka Basketball Tournament this week from the 22nd through the 24th.

The next home game for the Vikings is on the 26th against Springer.
