Sasakwa Vikings Hosted the Pittsburg Panthers Thursday Night

Posted in:

The Sasakwa Vikings hosted the Pittsburg Panthers Thursday night in some very lop-sided battles.

The Lady Vikings struggled in the first quarter on offense and fell behind by 7 at the end of the frame.

The Lady Panthers kept to their game plan in the second and continued to score from the paint. The Lady Vikings found a few opportunities to score in the quarter but were down by 11 at the break.

KK Wheeler, McKayla Harjo and Alexis James of Sasakwa found their way to the basket in the third while the Lady Panthers hit their third three-point shot in the game to keep their lead.

Sasakwa tried to rally back in the fourth with 10 points scored but the Lady Panthers lead was too far to catch.

The Pittsburg Lady Panthers won 34-23.

Scoring for Sasakwa Lady Vikings was Chasity Thomas with 9 points and was one of five from the free throw line.

KK Wheeler, Addy Odom and Alexis James each scored 4 points in the game.

The Sasakwa Vikings took to the court to face the 9-6 Pittsburg Panther boys.

The first quarter was a close battle as both teams were evenly matched. Garrett Wood of Pittsburg scored 6 points in the frame and Josh Jones scored 10 points.

The Vikings were trailing by one point heading into the second quarter. Again, the game was close with Pittsburg edging out Sasakwa by one point again before the break.

The Vikings regrouped at the half and came out on fire in the third with Micah Wheeler and Josh Jones each scoring 7 points each to take the lead.

The head coach for Pittsburg (Wes Wood) was unhappy with the game in the third and was called twice for technical fouls resulting in his ejection.

The Panthers were down by 7 heading into the final quarter. Jones had found his three-point range and drained a trey while Pittsburg only managed 5 points when the Panthers were called with back-to-back technical fouls, and the Pittsburg Panthers called the game with 5 minutes left in regulation.

The Sasakwa Vikings won the game with a final score of 57-43.

“Their coach pulled them off the floor after they had received 2 back-to-back technicals with 5 minutes left to go. Definitely the craziest game I’ve been a part of,” stated Sasakwa Head Coach Chris Jones.

Scoring for the Sasakwa Vikings was Josh Jones with 24 points, one trey and was 7 of 7 from the free throw line.

Micah Wheeler had 9 points and one trey.

Darius Henderson had 8 points and was 0 of 6 from the line.

Next up for Sasakwa is Maud on the 21st of January. This is a home game. The game will start at approximately 6:30 p.m.
