Sasakwa Vikings Have Split Games at Home
The Sasakwa Vikings baseball team played a double header last Monday against New Lima and Maysville. The Vikings beat the New Lima Falcons after four innings and shut out the Maysville Warriors in their second game.
The Falcons went threeout in the first inning as the Vikings lit up the scoreboard on two walks in the bottom of the first with Darius Henderson and (O) Hellman scoring.
The Falcons struggled in the second and went scoreless. The Vikings added to their score with Micah Wheeler scoring on a sacrifice fly by Henderson.
The Falcons struck back in the third with Waylon Neal scoring on a pop fly. The defense of the Falcons held the Vikings scoreless in the inning and took advantage in the fourth when Alex Leaver homers on a fly ball. The Falcons go 3 and out after.
In the bottom of the fourth, Stewart scored on a ground ball and Wheeler scored on a line drive.
New Lima went threeand-out at the top of the fifth and the game was over.

won 6-2.
Pitching for New Lima was Tanner Johnston who pitched 3 innings, allowing 4 runs and striking out 6.
Alex Leaver who pitched one inning, allowing two runs and striking out zero.
Pitching for Sasakwa was Micah Wheeler who pitched one inning, allowing zero runs and striking out one.
Josh Jones pitched four innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
Next up was the Maysville Warriors.
The Warriors struggled from the start. Maysville went 3 and out and the Vikings jumped out to a big lead with Wheeler scoring on a line drive, Stewart scored on a ground ball, Aiden Livesay scored on a ground ball, Braydon Lamb scored on a passed ball and Thad Harjo scored on a ground ball.
The frustration continued for the Warriors in the second as they went 3 and out again. The Vikings continued with their momentum and put the game away with Livesay scoring on a passed ball, Josh Jones scored on a pop fly, Lamb scored on a advance and Stewart scored a run.
The Warriors had no answer in the third and the game was called. Sasakwa Vikings won 10-0.
Pitching for Sasakwa was Tresyn Walker who pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs and striking out five and walking one.
The Vikings lost their next game against the Coleman Wildcats on Tuesday night with a 6-4.
The game was tied in the first and the Wildcats took the lead in the fifth inning with two runs and another in the sixth. The Vikings rallied back in the seventh with three runs, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Wildcats.
Next up for the Vikings is the Broken Bow Festival on the 17th through the 21st.
The next home game for the Vikings is on the 31st with games against Varnum and Wynnewood. The games will start at 3 p.m.
