Sasakwa Vikings Battle the Moss Pirates at Home Tuesday

The Sasakwa Vikings had back-to-back home games Monday night and Tuesday night.

The Lady Vikings lost two very close games in very tough matchups while the Viking boys won their games by a huge margin.

The Lady Vikings started the evening off Tuesday against the (7-3) Moss Lady Pirates.

Sasakwa struggled on offense in the first quarter and were fouled throughout the quarter. The Lady Pirates scored 11 points to take the early lead.

The Lady Vikings settled down in the second and fired back with Addy Odom and McKayla Harjo putting on an ariel display from threepoint range with 3 treys scored in the frame.

The Lady Viking defense held the Lady Pirates to 7 points to take the lead right before the half. Both defenses stepped up in the third with the Lady Pirates just edging out Sasakwa by one point to tie the game up.

The defensive struggle continued in the final quarter with the Moss Lady Pirates winning the free throw battle and winning the game one.

The final score of the game was 35-34 Moss Lady Pirates.

Scoring for the Lady Vikings was McKayla Harjo with 13 points, one trey and was 7 of 9 from the free throw line.

Addy Odom had 12 points, two treys and was 2 for 6 from the line.

Alexis James had 3 points and was one of four from the line.

The Viking boys hit the court next to take on the (5-6) Moss Pirate boys. The Sasakwa Vikings jumped on the scoreboard first and found their three-point range early with 3 treys by Ayden Livesay, Nate Reed and Josh Jones.

The Pirates kept it close and tallied up 12 points in the first.

The Vikings took off and dominated the second quarter with more three-point shooting and were 5 of 8 from the foul line. The defense of the Vikings also held the Pirates to their lowest scoring in the game as Sasakwa went on a 32-8 run in the frame.

The Vikings had a 49-20 lead at the break. The Moss Pirates slowly started coming back in the second half and scored 16 points inside the paint.

The Vikings continued with their ariel display in the second half with Livesay, Titus-Harper Collins and Titan Collins each scoring a trey in the third.

The Pirates put the pressure on in the final quarter with some three-point shooting for themselves. Jackson O’Kelley and L. Foster knocked down 3 treys to help the Pirates score 21 points in the frame.

The Vikings never let up and Mason Palmer and Abe Odom joined the others in their threepoint shooting display.

Time was a factor for the Pirates in their late surge. The Sasakwa Vikings won the match by a score of 83-57 to stay undefeated at home.

Scoring for the Vikings was Josh Jones with 13 points, one trey and was 2 of 4 from the free throw line.

Ayden Livesay with 12 points, all from threepoint shots (4).

Nate Reed with 12 points, one trey and was 3 of 4 from the free throw line.

Darius Henderson and Micah Wheeler each scored 10 points on the evening.

Next up for the Sasakwa Vikings is an away game at Paden on the 7th of January.

The next home game is on the 21st of January against Maud. The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
