Sasakwa Protect Their Home Court Tuesday Over Maud
Sasakwa Vikings hosted the Maud Tigers Tuesday night for their fifth home game of the season.
The Lady Vikings took to the court first to start the evening. The first quarter was a good match between the teams as Jaycee Pack of Maud scored 6 points and Addy Odom of Sasakwa also scored 6 points and McKayla Harjo added 5 more to help the Lady Vikings go up by two at the end of the first.
The second quarter was an aerial display of some three-point shooting from both teams. For Maud, Aubri Kueneman knocked down two and Abi Horton drained one. For Sasakwa, McKayla Harjo hit two and KK Wheeler added one for the Lady Vikings. Sasakwa scored more in the paint and went on a 21-14 run before the break.
The Lady Tigers focused on their game plan more in the second half and controlled the game from inside the paint in the third.
The Lady Vikings were still finding success from three-point range that fired up the home crowd.
The Maud Lady Tigers were down by 6 heading into the final quarter. The Lady Tigers continued to battle with success from two-point range. The Lady Vikings were left to shoot from the line most the fourth and went 10 of 18.
The game was very close as the Lady Tigers close the gap by 3 but time had expired, and the Sasakwa Lady Vikings protected their home court with a final score of 60-57.
Leading the way for the Maud Lady Tigers was Jaycee Pack with 19 points and was 3 of 3 from the free throw line.
Aubri Kueneman had 13 points, two treys and was 3 of 8 from the line.
Shaelynn Fletcher and Janlee Impson both scored 8 points.
Scoring for the Lady Vikings was MaKayla Harjo with 18 points, four treys and was 4 of 4 from the line.
Addy Odom had 18 points, one trey and was 5 of 9 from the line.
KK Wheeler had 7 points, one trey and was 2 of 2 from the free throw line.
The Sasakwa Vikings and the Maud Tigers hit the court next.
The Maud Tigers came to play and battled it out throughout the first quarter. It was a slugfest as both teams traded scores. Casyn Bodkin of Maud drained a three-point shot and Nate Reed and Josh Jones found their threepoint range in the first.
The game was tied up heading into the second. As the battle continued, both teams were plagued with fouls throughout the quarter. The Vikings made 75 percent of the foul shots to take the lead into the half.
The defense of the Vikings stepped up in the third and held the Tigers to 10 points scored while Ayden Livesay and Jones made their shots from behind the arch to help the Vikings go on a 19-10 run to add to their lead.
The Tigers were looking at a 14-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter. Maud had no answer for Sasakwa on offense and was held to only 4 points scored.
The Vikings continued with their offensive pressure and dominated the quarter with 3 treys scored in the final frame.
The Sasakwa Vikings protected their home court with a final score of 83-49 over Maud.
Leading for Maud was Boudee Brooks with 14 points and was two of five from the free throw line.
Colt Abbott had 12 points and was four of six from the line.
Casyn Bodkin had 11 points and one trey.
Leading for Sasakwa was Josh Jones with 30 points, two treys and was 6 of 7 from the line.
Nate Reed had 18 points, three treys and was five of five from the line.
Titus Harper-Collins had 11 points and was two for two from the line.
