Sasakwa Baseball Season Comes to an End at Regionals

The Sasakwa Vikings battled their way to Regionals and put on a good fight Thursday in Seminole at the Seminole State Lloyd Simmons’ baseball field.

The Vikings faced the Boswell Scorpions in their first round and made a rally late but fell short.

The Vikings went to bat first and went three-andout. The Scorpions got on the board with a single run.

The Vikings struggled through three innings, going scoreless.

The Scorpions scored two runs in the second and three in the third to go up 6-0 in the third.

At the top of the fourth, the Vikings lit up the score board with Darius Henderson scoring on an error and Kaisyn Shaw scoring on a ground ball.

Boswell added one more run at the bottom of the fourth.

Neither team scored in the fifth inning but at the top of the sixth, the Vikings added two more runs with Henderson scoring on a ground and Aiden Livesay scoring on a walk.

The Vikings had closed the gap to just two runs, but the Scorpions struck back at the bottom of the inning with four runs scored to extend their lead.

Sasakwa had one more inning to catch the Scorpions but fell short with two runs by Henderson and Shaw.

The final score of the game was 11-6 Boswell Scorpions.

Pitching for Sasakwa was Titan Collins who pitched five innings, allowing seven runs, striking out five and walking four.

Bryor Bible pitched one inning, allowing four runs, striking out two and walking zero.

The Vikings now moved on to face the Timberlake Tigers to stay in the race for state.

The game was a close one, but the Vikings fell short one more time.

The Vikings went to bat first again and got on board when Micah Wheeler scored on a line drive and Henderson scored on a ground ball.

The Tigers answered right back with three runs scored to take the lead.

Sasakwa went to work in the second with Wheeler, Henderson and Josh Jones scoring on a line drive and an error to regain the lead.

Timberlake took the lead again at the bottom of the third with four runs scored.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning.

Sasakwa closed the gap with a run by Owen Hellman who scored on a passed ball.

The Vikings were down by one run at the top of the fifth, but the Tigers added one more run to go back up by two.

Sasakwa fired back in the sixth with T. Collins scoring on a passed ball, Jones scored on a passed ball to tie the game up 8-8.

Timberlake extended their lead in the inning with three runs scored. The Vikings again had one more inning to catch their opponent but went threeand- out.

The final score of the game was 11-8 Timberlake Tigers.

Pitching for Sasakwa was Thad Harjo who pitched 3.2 innings, allowing seven runs, striking out one and walking seven.

Ayden Livesay pitched 2.1 innings, allowing four runs, striking out two and walking four.
