Oklahoma Sooners 2025 Schedule Revealed
SOONER WIRE - The Oklahoma Sooners full 2025 football schedule was released by the SEC on Wednesday night. The Sooners will play the same eight conference opponents they faced in 2024 but will visit venues they’ve never had the opportunity to play in or haven’t played in for decades.
After visiting some fantastic environments like Oxford and Baton Rouge in 2024, the Sooners will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama for key SEC road games. Coming to Norman in 2025 are the Michigan Wolverines, the Ole Miss Rebels, Auburn Tigers, Missouri Tigers, and LSU Tigers creating a fantastic home slate for Sooners fans to enjoy.
The schedule makers for the SEC gave OU a guantlet to finish the 2025 season. After playing Kent State on Oct. 4, Oklahoma will finish the season with seven games against Texas, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, and LSU. All seven of those teams will be ranked to start the 2025 season. It’ll be a stretch that defines the Oklahoma Sooners next season.
Here’s a look at the full 2025 football schedule.
Aug. 30 vs. Illinois State Redbirds All-time record: 0-0 The Oklahoma Sooners will open the season with FCS Illinois State. The Red Birds went 10-4 in 2024 and made it to the second round of the playoffs before losing 42-10 to UC Davis.
Sept. 6 vs. Michigan Wolverines All-time record: Sooners lead 1-0 Last meeting (1976): Oklahoma won 14-6 Michigan had a fall from grace after their national championship season, but still found a way to beat Ohio State in The Game to close the season on a high note.
Sept. 13 at Temple Owls All-time record: Sooners lead 2-1 Last meeting (2024): Oklahoma won 51-3 In the 2024 season opener, wide receiver Deion Burks caught three touchdowns from Jackson Arnold as the Sooners rolled the Owls. Burks didn’t have another touchdown reception throughout the rest of the season.
Sept. 20 vs. Auburn Tigers All-time record: Oklahoma leads 3-0 Last meeting (2024): 26-20 Oklahoma Against Auburn in 2024, Michael Hawkins Jr. created magic with his legs for a long touchdown run to open the game and Kip Lewis sealed it with an interception return for a touchdown.
Oct. 4 vs. Kent State Golden Flashes All-time record: Oklahoma leads 1-0 Last meeting (2022): 33-3 In week 2 of the 2022 season, 2024 Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his touchdowns went to Marvin Mims for scores of 36 and 58 yards.
Oct. 11 vs. Texas Longhorns (Cotton Bowl) All-time record: Texas leads 64-51-5 Last meeting (2024): 34-3 Longhorns For the second time in three seasons, the Oklahoma Sooners were held without a touchdown against the Texas Longhorns and Brent Venables suffered a blowout to the Sooners biggest rival. Can they get the rebound win in 2025 like they did in 2023?
Oct. 18 at South Carolina Gamecocks All-time record: South Carolina leads 1-0 Last meeting (2024): 35-9 South Carolina South Carolina jumped out to a 21-0 lead after Hawkins Jr. turned the ball over on the Sooners’ first three possessions in Norman. The Sooners had a bad game plan going into the contest and it led to Seth Littrell’s firing. Down big against their elite pass rushers was a game script the Sooners couldn’t recover from.
Oct. 25 vs. Ole Miss Rebels All-time record: Ole Miss leads 2-0 Last meeting (2024): 26-14 Rebels The Sooners held a 14-10 lead going into halftime but couldn’t keep the ball moving against an Ole Miss defensive front that limited the run game and made Jackson Arnold uncomfortable in the pocket.
Nov. 1 at Tennessee Volunteers All-time record: Oklahoma leads 3-2 Last meeting (2024): 25-15 Volunteers The Oklahoma Sooners were in good position in the first quarter against the Tennessee Volunteers. But a Jackson Arnold fumble at the five-yard line stripped the Sooners of all their momentum. Arnold was benched close to halftime. Hawkins led a pair of fourth quarter touchdown drives, showing some promise that he could be the Sooners starting quarterback.
Nov. 15 at Alabama Crimson Tide All-time record: Oklahoma leads 4-2-1 Last meeting (2024): 24-3 Sooners.
After everything the Oklahoma Sooners had been through in 2024, their performance over Alabama seemed impossible. But the run game executed to perfection behind the offensive line’s best performance of 2024 and the defense dominated Jalen Milroe and Crimson Tide.
Nov. 22 vs. Missouri Tigers All-time record: Oklahoma leads 67-25-5 Last meeting (2024): 30-23 Missouri The one that got away from the Oklahoma Sooners. Sammy Omosigho forced a fumble, and Billy Bowman returned it for a touchdown to give the Sooners a 23-16 lead with two minutes to play. Then the defense had arguably its worst drive of the season, allowing Mizzou to tie the game, and then Arnold fumbled the ball allowing the game-winning touchdown.
Nov. 29 vs. LSU Tigers All-time record: LSU leads 3-1 Last meeting (2024): LSU won 37-17 Garrett Nussmeier returned from what appeared to be a devastating shoulder injury after a Mason Thomas sack to throw two long touchdowns to help the LSU Tigers pull away from the Sooners. Oklahoma didn’t have the passing attack to keep the game close.
