Oklahoma’s Regan Beers Picked as a Top 25 Best Player in Sweet 16

Oklahoma’s center, Raegan Beers was picked a Top 25 Best Player for the Sweet 16 this year.

Raegan Beers is a Oklahoma center that is 6-foot-4 junior that has made a statement in the NCAA Women’s basketball world.

The Lady Sooners started their journey in the Division I basketball championships beating Florida Gulf Coast 81-58 to advance and taking care of Iowa 96-62 to now face UConn in their Sweet 16 matchup Saturday.

Raegan Beers has had back-to-back 30-point outings recently.

Beers dominated in wins over Vanderbilt and Arkansas, averaging 30.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. She became the first Sooner since Courtney Paris in 2007 to record back-toback 30-point games. The 6-foot-4 post shot 85.2% (23 of 27) from the field, including connecting on three of her shots behind the 3-point line. from beyond the arc. She also became the first player nationally in at least 25 seasons to post two games in a single week with 30 points, seven or more rebounds and 80% shooting.

In Oklahoma’s 20-point win over Vanderbilt (10181), Beers set the tone early, scoring 14 firsthalf points en route to a career-high 30. She shot 11 of 13 from the field and 8 of 11 from the free-throw line while adding a season- high 14 rebounds, a career-best four assists and two blocks. She became the first Southeastern Conference player to post that stat line since All-American Angel Reese in 2022.

She followed up with another dominant performance in Oklahoma’s 40-point rout at Arkansas (94-54) — the program’s largest conference win in over a decade. Beers matched her career high with 30 points, shooting 12 of 14 from the floor and knocking down a careerbest three 3-pointers. She added seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.

On the season, Beers leads Oklahoma in scoring (17.5), rebounding (8.9), and blocks (1.1) per game. The center is on pace to become the first player since at least 1999 to average 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in under 22.0 minutes per game.

Much like she has done all season, Beers morphed into whatever the Sooners needed in the NCAA tournament. In the opener against Florida Gulf Coast, she was a scorer, dominating the smaller Eagles at the rim. The game against Iowa was more perimeter-oriented (the teams combined for 21 3-pointers), but that might have been because Beers was there to protect the paint. She blocked four shots and the Hawkeyes’ post players were not big factors. Rebounding has been a constant for Beers; her 15.5 RPG in the tournament is the best in March Madness.

The Sooners face Connecticut Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The game will be televised on ESPN.
