GAINESVILLE, Fla. — No. 1/1 Oklahoma Softball (43-5, 17-5 SEC) posted 15 hits, Sam Landry spun all nine innings and the Sooners outlasted No. 7/9 Florida (41-13, 12-10 SEC), 6-5, Thursday, May 1.

Oklahoma’s 15 hits set a team high in SEC play, while Landry’s effort brought her to 14 complete games on the year.

OU 6, Florida 5 (9 inn.)

Oklahoma and Florida were even following the first after OU escaped the opening frame with a 6-3-2 double play on a play at the plate following an attempt at a double play.

Oklahoma took that momentum into the third inning, scoring with two away. Ailana Agbayani singled to left, stole second on an evasive slide and scored on an RBI double to right center from Abigale Dayton. Dayton provided an RBI double on the 13th pitch of the at-bat.

After Sam Landry turned in a scoreless second, stranding two, Kasidi Pickering hit a solo home run to left field for a 2-0 lead. The Gators took their first and only lead of the game in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three on an error and two hits.

Ella Parker tied the game up with a solo home run deep to right. Ailana Agbayani was hit by a pitch, Sydney Barker walked, and Dayton worked a 10-pitch walk to load the bases. In a pinch-hitting situation, Tia Milloy took a 2-2 pitch to line the go-ahead RBI single. Two pitches later Hannah Coor muscled an RBI single to right, putting the Sooners ahead, 5-3.

UF’s Mia Williams answered with a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom half. Both sides traded opportunities but escaped unscathed in the seventh and eighth. That changed in the ninth. Parker started the ninth with a single and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas followed by flaring one of her own to right. Agbayani put down a bunt single and after popout, Dayton laced the game-winning RBI single to center.

The Gators had two reach in the ninth, but Landry worked a game-ending groundout to Agbayani.

Pitchers of Record Win: Sam Landry (18-3) Loss: Ava Brown (10-2)
