New Lima Win Big on the Road at Olive

The New Lima Falcons and Falconettes traveled to Olive Thursday for their second away game and last game before the Thanksgiving break.

The Lady Falcons hit the court first against the Lady Wildcats. The game was a battle in the first, but the Falconettes edged out Olive 11-8.

Both teams stepped up their offenses in the second with New Lima pulling away by five points at the half.

The Falconettes settled down and came out firing on all cylinders in the third. The defense held the Lady Wildcats to 6 points while their offense scored 15 points to extend their lead.

The Lady Wildcats had no answer for the Lady Falcons in the fourth quarter. The defense of the Falconettes held Olive scoreless. New Lima cruised in for the win with a final score of 50-27 New Lima. (no stats were given on this game) Next up was the New Lima Falcon boys and the Olive Wildcat boys.

The Olive Wildcats took the early lead with Twin 1 and 2 Peveler hitting a three-point shot each to help the Wildcats go on a 12-9 run.

The Falcons fired right back in the second. Waylon Neal found his three-point range and knocked down three treys with Logan Heard backing him up with a trey of his own.

New Lima had the lead going into the half with a score of 27-20.

The Falcons continued where they left off in the second and took control of the quarter. New Lima’s Logan Heard found his three-point range in the third and drained two treys to help the Falcons go on a 16-10 run.

New Lima had extended their lead by 13 points heading into the final frame. The Wildcats continued to battle in the fourth but could not catch the Falcons. Heard continued with his aerial display and added two more three-point shots to put the game away.

“This win right here moves us to 3 wins and 4 losses on the season,” stated Head Coach Keviin Romine. “It was a huge road victory for us going into Thanksgiving break. I feel that our boys are really starting to understand the concept of our offensive and defensive philosophies. Their hard work, discipline and dedication is starting to pay dividends. A long way to go but I’ve got a good feeling about this group.”

The New Lima Falcons won 61 to 40.

Scoring for New Lima was Waylon Neal with 26 points, four three-point shots and was 2 for 2 from the line.

Loga Heard had 21 points and five three-point shots.

Next up for New Lima is the LRC Conference Tournament December 2-7 at the Seminole High School gym.

New Lima Falconettes play Monday at 4:30 p.m. against Bowlegs and the Falcon boys play Monday at 5:50 p.m. against Bowlegs.
