New Lima Falcons Ground the Life Christian Eagles Thursday
The New Lima welcomed the Life Christian Eagles to Falcon territory Thursday night for the homecoming game. The Falcon boys and girls grounded the Eagles in both of their games.
New Lima selected Cheyenne Deatherage as their Queen and Ty Martin as their King in their homecoming ceremony.
The New Lima Falconettes kicked off the evening by taking a big lead in the first with Cheyenne Deatherage scoring 7 points to help the Falconettes go on a 23-6 run.
The defense of the Falconettes put the pressure on in the second and held the Lady Eagles to 2 points scored as Lady Falcon Layla Cecil knocked down a three-point shot and four points in the paint to help the Falconettes go on a 13-point run before the half. New Lima had a sizable lead heading into the third quarter. The defense of New Lima stepped up their game again and held the Lady Eagles scoreless in the third frame. The Falconettes added 15 more points to their score.
The Life Christian Lady Eagles never gave up and scored 4 points in the final quarter. Lady Falcon Avaleigh Fields scored 7 points to help seal the win for New Lima.
The New Lima Falconettes won the game with a final score of 62-12.
Scoring for New Lima was Cheyenne Deatherage with 14 points, 1 assist and was 2 of 5 from the free throw line.
Layla Cecil had 13 points, two treys, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 steals and was 1 of 2 from the free throw line.
Avaleigh Fields had 11 points, one trey and 3 assists.
The New Lima Falcons hit the court next.
The Falcons scored the first basket to start the game, but the Life Christian Eagles were ready to play. The game went back and forth with the score with the Falcons edging the Eagles by one score 10-9 to end the first.
New Lima Falcon Logan Heard knocked down a three-point shot in the first and drained another in the second to fire up the crowd. The Eagles fired right back with a couple of treys of their own to keep the game close.
New Lima had a 5-point lead at the break.
The Falcons put on an ariel display from threepoint range in the third with Bear Colbert draining two and Logan Heard hitting another. The Eagles kept it close with eleven points scored in the quarter.
The Life Christian Eagles rallied back in the final frame with Magnus Miller scoring 11 points to help close the gap, but the duo of Logan and Colbert continued to help the Falcons protect their home court Thursday night.
The New Lima Falcons won the game with a final score of 60-53.
Scoring for the Falcons was Angel Clark with 17 points, 1 assist, 1 steal and was 5 out of 7 from the line.
Loga Heard had 14 points, 4 three-point shots, 1 assist and 2 blocks.
Bear Colbert had 12 points, 3 treys and was one of two from the line.
Next up for the Falcons is an away game at Konawa on the 17th of December.
The Falconettes will start at 6:30 p.m. with the Falcons following directly after.
