Maud Tigers Host Their 2nd Annual 8-Man Tournament

Thursday through Saturday, Maud Tigers hosted their 2nd Annual 8-Man Basketball Tournament. The eight schools participating in this year’s tournament were Alex, Depew, Graham-Dustin, Maysville, Paoli, Weleetka, Wetumka and Maud.
The Maud Tiger boys won the Consolation Championship over the Weleetka Outlaws.
The Maud Lady Tigers started their first round facing the Alex Lady Longhorns Thursday night. The Lady Longhorns controlled the game in the first half.
The Lady Tigers were down by 10 coming into the second half and made a comeback in the third but the Lady Longhorns made their shots count in the final frame and pulled away from the Lady Tigers.
The Alex Lady Longhorns won 51-19.
The Lady Tigers moved on to face the Paoli Lady Pugs Friday night in their second round. Maud was ready to play and dominated the game. The Maud Lady Tigers won the with a final score of 53-25. Now the Lady Tigers moved on to the Consolation Championship game against the Depew Lady Hornets Saturday. The game was a tough fight for both teams as each team battled to the end. Depew edged out the Lady Tigers with a final score of 46-34.
The Maud Tigers also started the tournament by facing the Alex Longhorn boys Thursday night. Maud took the early lead, but the Longhorns quickly came back in the first half.
The game went back and forth but the Alex Longhorns came out on top with a final score of 52-45.
The Tiger boys now moved on to play the Maysville Warriors Friday afternoon. Both teams traded shots throughout the game, but the Tigers pulled away for the win with a final score of 56-45.
Now the Tigers moved on to face the Weleetka Outlaws for the Consolation Championship Saturday. The game was evenly matched as it went down to the wire. The Maud Tigers pulled away in the end to win the game 50 to 45 to win the Consolation Championship.
Next up for Maud is a home game on the 12th of December against the Weleetka Outlaws at 6:30 p.m.
