Lady Chieftains Fall to Konawa at Home Friday Night

The Seminole Lady Chieftains were back at home Friday night and hosted the Konawa Lady Tigers. The Lady Chieftains rallied back but fell short in the contest.

The visiting Lady Tigers were up to bat first and put points on the board when Kenley Sandlin scored on a ground ball and McKenzie Alford scored on a line drive by Kadie Jencik to take the lead.

The Lady Chieftains fired back at bat and tied things up when Morgan Gamble scored, and Layla Griffin scored on an error. Seminole took the lead when Paris Powell scored on a ground ball.

The Lady Tigers fired right back in the second inning when Lynn Solano scored on a line drive, Sophina Robertson scored on a ground ball, Sandlin scored on a fly ball, Austin Bell scored on a fly ball, Laila Wroolie scored on a fly ball, Jencik scored on a line drive, Jayden Coats scored on a line drive and Robinson scored on a line drive.

The Lady Tigers had a commanding lead with a score of 12-3 heading into the bottom of the second. The Lady Chieftains went 3 and out.

Konawa added to their score when Jencik scored on a line drive and Racee Ortiz scored on a line drive at the top of the third.

Seminole got back on the board when Aundrea Tagg scored on a line drive and Gamble scored on an error. Powell and Griffin scored on a ground ball to close the gap some.

Lady Tiger Sandlin scored on a ground ball in the fourth. The Lady Chieftains closed the gap more when Gamble scored on a fly ball and Tagg scored on a ground ball.

The Lady Tigers struggled in the fifth and came away scoreless. The Lady Chieftains took advantage and scored when Rylee Powell touched Homeplate on a ground ball and Elsie McGirt scored on an error. Gamble hits a homerun and knocks in Ava Yarbrough.

Konawa and Seminole both struggled in the sixth inning as both teams went scoreless.

The Lady Tigers added one more run to their score when Jencik scored on a ground ball in the seventh inning. The Lady Chieftains went three-and-out and the game was over with the Konawa Lady Tigers winning the close matchup 16-13.

Pitching for Konawa was Kadie Jencik who pitched seven innings, allowing 13 runs and striking out one and walking one.

Next up for the Lady Chieftains is the North Rock Creek Festival on the 13th through the 15th. The next home game is against Bethel on the 31st. The game is set to start at 4:40 p.m.

Next up for the Konawa Lady Tigers is the 13th at home against Wetumka. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
