Lady Bison Win First Slow Pitch Game of Season
The Bowlegs Lady Bison hosted the New Lima Falconettes to start off their slow pitch softball seasons Thursday evening.
The game was a very close one and a tough loss for the Lady Falcons as they fell 7 to 8 in seven innings.
The Lady Falcons started off at bat at the top of the first. New Lima got on board with a score by Jaidyn Hinton on a line drive by Aubrey Washington. Cheyenne Deatherage scored on a fielder’s choice.
The Bowlegs Lady Bison fired right back when Leigha Coker scored a missed throw, MaryBeth Dunagan scored on a ground ball and Cira Parsons scored on a fielder’s choice to help the Lady Bison take the lead.
New Lima tied things up in the second when Ali Stidham scored on a ground ball.
The Lady Bison took the lead again when Jehya scored on a fielder’s choice.
The score changed at the top of the third to 2-4 Bowlegs lead. The Lady Falcons go three-and-out.
Lady Bison Kasin Kolander hits a homerun at the start of the bottom of the third. Bowlegs would go three-and-out after.
The Falconettes were down by 3 runs at the top of the fourth. New Lima’s P. Johnson scored on a ground ball to close the gap.
Bowlegs answered back at the bottom of the inning when Jehya scored on a fly ball.
New Lima found their momentum in the fifth when Krissy Griffis scored on a ground ball by Abigail McCulley, Johnson hits a ground ball to knock in J. Ipock, McCulley scored on a fly ball by Jazzy Harjo to tie the game up 6 to 6.
The Lady Bison went scoreless in the bottom of the fifth.
The Falconettes took the lead in the sixth when Deatherage scored on a ground. Bowlegs struggled again on offense in the sixth.
The Falconettes could not add to their lead in the final inning and went threeand-out at the top of the 7th.
The Lady Bison tied things up when Coker scored on a fly ball. Bowlegs suffered two outs and Granny was up to bat and had 3 balls and 1 strike before she hit a ground ball and knocked in Dunagan to win the game by one.
Pitching for New Lima was Layla Cecil who pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs, striking out two and walking two.
Pitching for Bowlegs was Jehya who pitched seven innings, allowing 7 runs, striking out three and walking five.
Next up for New Lima Lady Falcons is a home game with Life Christian and Calvin Monday. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
Next up for the Lady Bison is an away game at Life Christian on Tuesday the 11th.
The next home game for Bowlegs is on the 25th against Macomb. The game is set to start at 4:30 with the junior high, followed by the high school.
