Konawa Tigers Win at Home on Senior Night

The Konawa Tigers hosted the Wayne Bulldogs Friday night on senior night in their last game and last home game of the regular season.

The game was almost a shutout for the Tigers, but a safety allowed Wayne to have 2 points on the board as Konawa rolled over Wayne 41-2 on a rainy night.

The Tigers started out on offense and on the third play, running back Jeremiah Flores ran it in from 65 yards out for the touchdown but a penalty called the play back.

The Tigers moved the ball down field and half back Alexander Conyers gets the ball runs it in for the score from 30-yards out. The field goal failed.

The Bulldogs had a hard time moving the ball on a rainy night and turned the ball back over to the Tigers.

Konawa moved the ball inside the redzone, and quarterback Moses Isaacs ran it in from 15-yards out to extend the lead. The field goal was good.

Konawa had the lead 13-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Wayne was back on offense to start the quarter but could not move the ball against the Tiger defense. The Bulldogs punted the ball down inside the ten-yard line for the Tigers. Konawa fought to get away from the endzone and fumbled the ball at the goal line and the quarterback fell on the ball on the goal line.

Wayne received the safety and lit up the scoreboard with 2 points.

At the half, the Tigers score was 13, Wayne 2.

The Bulldogs started on offense in the third quarter but continued to struggle on offense.

Konawa took over on offense and moved the ball just inside Bulldogs territory when Conyers found an opening from 45 yards out and took it to the house for the score.

Wayne had no answer for the Tigers and turned the ball over again. Konawa went back to work and moved the ball inside the ten-yard line and Keagan Bell punched it in from 10 yards out to put the Tigers up 27-2.

Wayne was able to move the ball inside the Tiger’s redzone but threw an incomplete pass on fourth down and turned the ball over at the ten.

Konawa went back to work with Flores as Jeremiah ran 99 yards from endzone to endzone for the touchdown.

The Tigers now had a commanding lead with a score of 34-2 at the end of the third.

The defense of the Tigers held the Bulldogs to no points in the second half. The Tigers sealed the win with another touchdown in the final quarter to win the game 41-2.

The Konawa Tigers had a great season, going 7-3 in the regular season. The Tigers earned their way to the playoffs and face Mangum at Mangum Friday the 15th at 7 p.m. in their first round of the playoffs.
