Konawa Tigers Win Battle of Tigers Over Maud Tuesday

The Konawa Tigers hosted the Maud Tigers Tuesday afternoon for a battle of the Tigers in some baseball action during spring break week.

Konawa came away with the big win over Maud 16-4 on a very windy afternoon.

The Maud Tigers were the visitors and took to the plate first. The Tigers got on board with Micah Brooks and Bowdee Brooks scoring on a steal of home.

The Konawa Tigers took over at bat and took the lead when Tyler Whitley scored on a fly ball, Tanner Johnson scored on a fly ball, Hayden Moore scored on an advance, Josiah Hunter scored on a line drive, Raydon Sitton scored on a ground ball, Jamarcus Brooks scored on a ground ball, Grady Moore scored on a fly ball and Whitley scored on a fly ball.

The Maud Tigers were down by 6 heading into the second inning. Nathaniel Amburn scored on a ground ball and Conner Hutchens scored on a error by third baseman.

Konawa went back to work in the bottom of the inning when Jaylyn Matchie and Brooks scored on an error, Moses Isaacs scored on a fly ball, Johnson scored on an advance, Moore, Hunter and Sitton scored on a fly ball by Brooks. Jamarcus Brooks scored on the next play of a steal of home.

The Konawa Tigers widen the gap by 12 at the end of the second.

The wind started to pick up and the Maud Tigers went three-and-out at the top of the third and the game was called.

The Konawa Tigers won the battle with a final score of 16-4.

Pitching for Maud was Jesse Siqueros who allowed eight runs over 2/3 of an inning, striking out none and walking two.

Pitching for Konawa was Grady Moore who pitched three innings allowing four runs, striking out none and walking four.

Next up for Maud is an away game at Roff on the 25th. The next home game is on the 31st against Midway. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.

Next up for Konawa is a home game Friday against Little Axe. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m. with the junior high starting first followed by the high school.
