Konawa Lose Tough Battle in Quarterfinal Playoffs

The Konawa Tigers made it to the quarterfinals in their football playoffs and traveled to Woodland Friday to take on the number one Woodland Cougars.

The game didn’t go like the Tigers wanted it to go but fought through to the end.

Konawa High School, Jr. High and Elementary kids helped send off the football team Friday afternoon with a small pep rally with words from sponsors and teammates.

The Woodland Cougars jumped out to an early lead with 16 points scored in the first quarter.

Konawa struggled in the first half of the game and could not get on the board.

Woodland continued to pressure on offense in the second and scored 28 points to go up 44-0 at the half.

The Tigers held the Cougars to 8 points in the third quarter but could not get things going offensively.

Konawa did light up the score board with 6 points scored in the fourth to avoid a shutout.

The Cougars scored 6 points in the final frame to seal their win and advance to the semi-finals.

The final score of the game was Woodland 58, Konawa 6.

The Tiger football season came to a close Friday night after going 7-3 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs.
