Chieftains Lose Close Game on Senior Night
The Seminole Chieftains held their Senior Night Monday night against the Ada Cougars.
Seminole honored 11 seniors before the games started.
The Lady Chieftains had a very slow start to the game. The Lady Cougars jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first.
Seminole’s Aundrea Tagg fired up the home crowd with two three-point shots in the second frame. The wheels of the Lady Cougars kept rolling as Ada knocked down 3 treys to extend their lead.
The Lady Chieftains were down at the half and continued to struggle in the third. Tagg still had her spot and knocked down another three-point shot in the quarter.
Seminole had no answer for Ada but continued to battle until the end of regulation. Ada Lady Cougars won the game with a final score of 68-27.
Leading for the Seminole Lady Chieftains was Aundrea Tagg with 11 points and 3 three-point shots.
Jaxie Satawake had 5 points and was one for two from the foul line.
Molli Bustos had 4 points on the evening.
Next up was the Chieftain boys and the Ada Cougar boys.
The first quarter was an even matchup, but the Chieftains edged out the Cougars by 2 points.
Both teams continued the battle into the second, but the Chieftains committed several fouls and the Cougars shot five of nine from the foul line to keep the game close.
The Chieftains still had a two-point lead at the half.
Ada fought hard and came back in the third to tie things up 30-30 at the end of the quarter.
The Chieftains found their three-point range in the final quarter and drained 3 three-points shots by Dontre Garfield and Justice Kortchaver but the aerial display was not enough as the Chieftains lost a very close game with a final score of 49-50.
Leading for Seminole was Justice Kortchaver with 19 points, one three-point shot and was six of six from the foul line.
Dontre Garfield scored 14 points, two treys and was four of seven from the line. Braydon Kolander scored 11 points and was five of five from the line.
Seminole will be playing their district playoffs at North Rock Creek this weekend.
