Bowlegs Defeat Schulter on Homecoming Night
The Bowlegs Bison hosted the Schulter Bulldogs Friday night for the homecoming game.
Bowlegs elected Grace Dunagan as Queen and she was escorted by senior Jacob Lewis.
The Bowlegs Bison boys kicked off the evening facing the Bulldogs. The game was close rom the jump. The Bulldogs edged out the Bison by two points after the first.
The defense of Bowlegs stepped up in the second and held the Bulldogs to 5 points scored in the second while they scored 10 points in the paint to take the lead.
Bowlegs had a slight lead heading into the third quarter.
The Bison came out from the break firing on all cylinders with Hudson Jasna scoring 7 points and Darius Morrison scoring 6 points to help the Bison go on a 21 to 5 run in the third quarter.
The Schulter Bulldogs were looking at a 19-point deficit going into the fourth and final frame. The Bulldogs made a desperate attempt to close the gap with Brayden Brown of Schulter, scoring 7 points to help the Bulldogs tack-on 17 points in the quarter while holding the Bison to 7 points scored but time ran out for Schulter and the Bowlegs Bison boys won 47-38.
Leading for Bowlegs was Darius Morrison with 13 points and was 3 of 4 from the free throw line.
Hudson Jasna had 12 points and was 6 of 7 from the line.
Cylas Mack had 5 points and was one for two from the line.
Next up was the Bowlegs Lady Bison and the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bison didn’t give the Lady Bulldogs room to breathe in the first quarter with Grace Dunagan knocking down a three-point shot and MaryBeth Dunagan scoring 6-points from the paint to help Bowlegs go on a 17-8 run in the quarter.
The second quarter for the Lady Bulldogs wasn’t much better as Bowlegs held them to 4 points scored while the offense continued with their momentum and with the help of Cira Parsons scoring 7 points, one being a three-point shot, Bowlegs held a 15-lead heading into the break.
The Schulter Lady Bulldogs settled down and came from the half more determined with Lady Bulldog Macee Henderson finding her three-point range in the quarter, but the Lady Bison scored 12 points in the paint to keep their lead out of reach.
In the final frame, the game was a small scoring affair. The toughness of both defenses showed their strength as the Bowlegs Lady Bison won at home on their homecoming night 47-27.
Scoring for the Lady Bison was Cira Parsons with 13 points and one three-point shot.
Kloe Oyler and Mary-Beth Dunagan each scored six points in the paint.
Next up for Bowlegs is the Bowlegs Annual Basketball Tournament January 23-25th.
The Bowlegs Lady Bison will play on Thursday at 10 a.m. against Paoli and the Bison boys will play the New Lima Falcons at 11:30 a.m. On Thursday.
