The Shot Heard Around The World…Backfired!
This non-political discussion revolved from my everyday thoughts after seeing continuous news casts about the murder of Charlie Kirk. Just some things to think about, okay?
Suppose you are in a hospital bed being tended to by a doctor, nurse, and hospital aides. You surely want them to have compassion in tending to you— whether you are a Christian or not. Right?
Compassion is taught in the Bible from the beginning to the end. Online, it is defined as a profound act of feeling sympathy, empathy, and mercy for someone in suffering, leading to a deep internal response and a call to action. It reflects God’s gracious and loving character, demonstrated through Jesus’ own compassionate actions and teachings, such as healing the sick, and caring for the needy. The biblical understanding of compassion involves not just pity but also moving to help and restore others, often crossing boundaries to serve and meet their needs, as shown in the parable of the Good Samaritan. God’s compassion is His core characteristic, and is described as eternal and renewed daily.
This is taught in the Bible, yet so many people are dismissing its value. New bibles are being printed, leaving out parts that people disagree with because they want to do their own thing—which is called sin--without regarding what God says to do. He created us, knowing what is best for our happiness. He warns us what is good for us and what is bad for us. It’s as simple as that! So, if you share His Word that His Son died for our sins and rose from the dead, and if we believe that, then we will be saved from utter destruction after we die. The fruits of this belief (referred to as the Fruits of the Spirit) is experiencing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control if we study Jesus’ life and try to live our lives, using His as an example. We will stop being more selfish and be more compassionate toward others. This creates a better life for us and those around us. You’ve always heard that those who don’t believe in God will usually plead for His mercy when they find themselves in terrible circumstances or are dying.
In Vishal Mangalwadi’s book THE BOOK THAT MADE YOUR WORLD... How the Bible created the soul of western civilization… states: ...’Christian beliefs provided the rationale and faith the motive energy for western technology.’ Christendom pioneered technological creativity because the Bible presented God who is a Creator, nether a dreamer nor a dancer, as some sages believe. God was the architect of the cosmos. He shaped man out of clay as a potter does, making man in his own creative image and commanding him to rule the world creatively.
Also included in this book , it explains that Jesus’s incarnation in a physical body and his bodily resurrection instilled into Christian philosophers the unique idea that matter was created for a spiritual purpose. Adam was created to take care of the earth, not to despise it or try to transcend it. To relate with today’s deluge of the use of technology, historian Ernst Benz realized that the Judeo-Christian view of reality and destiny produced and nurtured technology in four ways: (1) The Bible emphasized intelligent craftsmanship in the world’s design. (2) The Bible suggested that human beings participate in divine workmanship by being good artisans themselves. (3) The Bible taught that we follow divine example when we use the physical universe for righteous ends. (4) The Bible challenged the West to use time wisely because each moment is a valuable, one-time opportunity, (see now how we have ventured away from these four ways).
With the use of technology, millions of people use the media to form opinions and beliefs. Good and detrimental information flows easily. Charlie Kirk used the media to share his Biblebased Christian beliefs. But because non-Christians also have access it, it infuriated a young man to make plans on killing him when he was to speak at a university in Utah. He was known to have said Kirk was teaching hate. He was not a Christian, didn’t believe in the Bible, so Kirk’s message to the listeners about what is right and what God says is wrong enraged him, so he went to the rally and shot him. The good news: it backfired on him. In places all over the world, people gathered in masses in the streets praising God and singing praises while churches were beginning to fill (since COVID) to hear why Kirk would die for his belief in God. Kirk’s death caused a world-wide revival. Many people were fired from their jobs after using the media to make derogatory remarks about Kirk’s stand for his beliefs. This includes some TV personalities, including Jimmy Kimmel.
What is being encouraged is for bickering to stop—especially in political arenas—that are dividing our country. Respect needs to come back, and the freedom to agree to disagree yet with respect for one another.
So, I just wanted to air my thoughts. You don’t have to agree with me, but it’s important to regard others, using the Fruits of the Spirit. It’s a no-brainer for your life as well as for those around you. Have a blessed week!
