She Was Devastated, Then She Found Her Help

…And Then What Happened?
Posted in:

I won’t disclose her name, but I will share a friend’s recent experience of finding the best help she could ever get.

After crushing news, she was driving in her distress, and saw a shocking handpainted sign on the side of the expressway. It said simply, ‘Psalm 91. God’s Got it!’ As a Christian, she remembered it was said to have a powerful message. Then later after reading it, she regained her composure and was reassured she would be alright.

Psalm 91 has been an inspiration for thousands of people through the ages and it continues on. (That’s why they call the Book the LIVING Bible.)

I begins by paraphrasing Psalm 91.... that we live under the protection of the Most High and dwell under the shadow of the Almighty. And we will say to God that our refuge and my fortress, my God is Whom I trust. (Cool, right?)

The it goes on to say that He will deliver us from the hunter’s net, from any destructive plague. He will cover us with His protective feathers; we can take refuge under His wings. His (proven) faithfulness will be a protective shield. (Imagine that!)

We shall not fear the terror of the night, the arrows that flies by day, the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence (like a serious disease) that ravages at noon. (Encouraging, isn’t it?)

Even if a thousand fall at our sides, and ten thousand at our right hands, they will not reach us. We will only see it with our eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked.

Because we have made God our refuge, the Most High, our dwelling place, no harm will come to us, no diseases near our home. For He will give us His angels orders concerning us, to protect us in all our ways. We will trample them like ferocious animals.

Because God is lovingly and devoted to us, He will protect us, since He even knows our names. When He calls out to us, we will answer Him; we will be with Him in trouble, We will be rescued and honored. We will have a long life (on earth and continuing on in Heaven). (My paraphrasing efforts hope to boost the understanding of this most encouraging chapter.)

It’s ironic that some people dismiss the Bible when it has the most profound messages to teach those hurting, confused, and desperate the importance of HOPE, LOVE, AND FORGIVENESS in these times. Some people just don’t want to get better. It starts in the mind, in having faith, instead of anything they we can do by ourselves.

These 16 verses of Psalm 91 are carrying my friend through her most challenging experience. This chapter works for those who have tried everything for help. Read it over and over to get its message to stick in your mind.God created us and knows how he created our minds to work. He has protected His Words to last a long, long time so we can have it to read and feed our minds with it like a healing medicine. Give it a try!

A last note: go to You-Tube and watch Russ Taff sing ‘Help Me’ and listen to his simple words. He has finally overcome 40+ years of destructive alcoholism. He’s telling who he turned to for help after trying everything else. Have a blessed week by blessing others.
