Virginia Sue (Stearman) Ritchey passed away peacefully July 31, 2021, at the home of her daughter in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Virginia was the only surviving child of Simeon and Alma Pearl (Miller) Stearman. She was born in Maud, Oklahoma on a “Leap Year” with an official birthdate of March 1, 1940.

Virginia attended high school in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where she was salutatorian of her senior class. It was there she met and eventually married Joseph Eugene Ritchey on August 3, 1956.

Virginia worked to support her family as Joe completed his teaching degree while raising their daughters, Celeste and Regina. After making Lindsay, Oklahoma their home in 1971, Virginia continued her education at East Central University and earned a Bachelor degree in Education with a double major in English and History. She substituted at Lindsay High School prior to beginning her career at the First National Bank of Lindsay. Virginia worked at the bank for 40 years and continued to fill in or help until her terminal diagnosis in November 2020.

Virginia was an animal lover, an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends and celebrating with her family. Virginia was very grateful for all the prayers, visits, cards, and letters she received during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Joe.

She is survived by daughter, Celeste, and son-in-law, Darrell Price of Seminole, Oklahoma and daughter, Regina Bear of Savannah, Georgia. Grandchildren, Jesse Bear of Savannah, Georgia, Afton and husband Jed Brauning of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Alonna and husband Evan Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Amber Price of Ada, Oklahoma. Great-grandchildren, Breanna, Braelyn, Josiah, and Joab Branuning; Jace and Abigail Ayres.

Visitation with family is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Wilbourn Family Funeral Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.

She will be laid to rest at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 3, 2021, at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Oklahoma Cancer Society in Virginia’s name.
