Virgil Tilley Sr.

Virgil Allen Tilley Sr. departed this life on Monday, September 23, 2019 in Ada, OK. He was born November 1, 1968 in Claremore, OK to George Harold Tilley and Lydia Wesley Tilley, now Lydia Proctor. Lumber Proctor heped Lydia raise Virgil since April of 1974 in Wewoka, Ok. He was a graduate of Wewoka High School where he played basketball from Jr. High through High School.

Virgil loved playing basketball, painting, dancing, and playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, cooking, drawing, and listening to music. Virgil was a artist and participated in an art contest at the University of Oklahoma.

On September 12, 2019 Virgil asked his mother to make a peach cobbler and she did and delivered it to him.

Virgil is preceded in death by his father and grandson, Aidyn Tilley.

Survivors include wife Laverna Harjo of the home, mother, Lydia Proctor and husband Lumber of Holdenville, children, Mitchell Tilley and wife Kimberly of Shawnee, OK, Virgil Allen Tilley Jr. of Okmulgee, OK, Tara Tilley of Ada, OK, stepson, Chris Cosar of Lawton, OK, fifteen grandchildren, brother, Vincent Tilley of Okemah, OK, two sisters Lori Proctor and Augustine Proctor both of Holdenville, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Mitchell Tilley, Virgil Tilley Jr., Vincent Tilley, Ryan Tilley, Khalil Jones, and Mandrill Grant.

Honorary pall bearers will be Mike Holden, Thomas Deere, Jerry Deere, Joe Proctor, Kyle Holden, Glenn Lena, and Chris Cosar.

Wake service will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Stout-Phillips Chapel 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 27, 2019 11:00 AM at Stout-Phillips Chapel with Pastor Eric Thlocco and burial at Greenleaf Cemetery, Okemah, OK.
