Tom Posey

Thomas Allen “Tom” Posey, 73 year old Shawnee, Oklahoma and former S e m i - nole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Shawnee. He was born October 23, 1946 in Seminole to parents Frances Yvonne Posey (Willis) Posey and Foster David “Bill” Posey.

Tom graduated from Seminole High School and went on to serve our country in the United States Army where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, The National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Marksman Rifle. Tom earned the rank of SP4.

On April 6, 1967 he married Roxie Lee Lemmings at the Haney Methodist Church when it was located by Varnum School. Tom worked in the oilfield for many years as a pumper. Later in life he worked as a cook at Prague Schools and at Wrangler in Seminole. He attended the Northeast Freewill Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Roxie (Lemmings) Posey of the home; one daughter, Tina Tricer and her husband James of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one son, Thomas David Posey of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister, Joyce Kay Reeves of Coweta, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Noe’l Elizabeth Palmer and her husband Joshua of Harrah, Oklahoma, Krisia Rene’ Ticer of Hollis, Oklahoma, Hanna Lee Ticer, Madison Chase Ticer and Shelby Marie Posey all of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one great-grandson, William James Palmer of Harrah, Oklahoma; and by a host of other family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother-in-law, Randall D. Reeves.

Graveside services with Military Honors are scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens located on Hwy. 270 east of Seminole with his son-in-law James Ticer officiating the service.

Honorary Bearers will be: Brian Reeves, Tom Lemmings, David Lemmings, Gerald Vaughn, Fred Schroeder and Buster Wilcox.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
