Sidney Moore

Sidney Wayne Moore was born on March 11, 1933 in Barber, Arkansas to Jesse Webster and O’Dessal Howard Godwin Moore. He left this world on April 11, 2021. He was the second of seven children.

Sid spent his childhood years in Oklahoma, where he graduated Bowlegs High school in 1950, after which he attended Draughons Business School in Tulsa. He joined the United States Air Force in November 1951. After a twenty-two year career he retired from the Air Force at the rank of Master Sergeant. He then attended the University of Oklahoma for five years, obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. After a second career in City Management, he obtained realtors licenses and became an Executive Broker for a short time.

It was while stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska that in 1955 he met his life’s delight-“Ricky” (DeLyla June Riekenberg). Married on April 6, 1958, they enjoyed 55 years of truly wedded bliss until death did they part when she was called home to the arms of her savior on July 25, 2013. Their three children survive: Lorilyn Kay, Sharilyn Sue, and Scott Lane.

Sid has held membership in various clubs and organizations and departs a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Retired Enlisted Association. He has been a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for 64 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Webb and Dessal Moore; two brothers-Archie and Jessie Webster Jr; father-in-law, Herbert Riekenberg of Norfolk, Nebraska and brother-in-law, Merlin Riekenberg, of Dillon, Montana and many close cousins.

He is survived by his three children listed above and their families and four sisters. Juhree Moore and Susie Rowland of Seminole, Oklahoma, Billie and husband Bob Walker of Seminole, and Jeanette DeWitt of Roland, Oklahoma and their families. Also two sisters-in-law: Louise Moore of Agra, Oklahoma and Joyce Johnson of Houston, Texas and their families.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas where he once again rejoins his beloved Ricky.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
