Services for Shirley Ann Clayton, 80, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Ada, OK, are at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Spring Baptist Church, Sasakwa, OK. Burial will follow at Fulkah Harjo Cemetery in Sasakwa.

Shirley left this life peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 21, 2023. She was born April 29, 1943, in Sasakwa to Babe and Josie (Stout) Harjo. She graduated from Sasakwa High School. She was a proud tribal member of the Chickasaw Nation and a longtime employee of the Chickasaw Nation having held various occupations. She retired in 2013. She was an avid OU & Thunder fan. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was the best “Meme”. She was also an excellent cook. She was a longtime member of Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, OK.

Her survivors include daughter, Angela Clayton; five grandchildren; Chase Davison and wife Chelsea, Taylor Martin and husband Clinton Farmer, Carly Castillo and husband Jarrod, Jakob Clayton and Chloe Clayton; nine great grand-children, Joey, Jennings and River Davison, Winnie and Josie Farmer, Jaycse, Leilani, Araiya, and Izri Castillo. Daughter-in-law Mandi Dicamillo; Two sisters, Betty McGilbert and Janie Newby; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Babe and Josie Harjo; her two beloved sons Kevin and Danny Clayton; four sisters and four brothers. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Harjo Jr, Leslie Harjo Jr, Bryan Lyon, Michael Porter, Israel Camp, Tim Postoak, Haskell Alexander, Richard Palmer, and Richard Clifton Shirley will be missed by so many. She was a matriarch, and we will all carry on her legacy of strength.
